First I'd just like to say that I am new to this site but not new in collecting. I have a question to ask and I didn't see a thread on it so I'd like to see what everyone else thinks.
With the release of all the wrestling figures by Mattel would anyone else besides myself like to see them limit the number of each figure they put? For example the DM Hogan limited to say 2,500 or the next elite series say like 3,000 for 5 guys and make 1 like a limited exclusive with like 1,500 released? This is just something I have been thinking about and was just wondering what everyone else thought about it.

No. This hobby is expensive enough.

If you limit the quantity of the figure, people expect better quality. And if you add quality and subtract quantity, what do you get? Oh yeah, jacked up prices! I think that's what he means.

If they limited the DM Hogan to 2500, theworld as we know it would implode in an ungodly f*ckin firestorm.
With that said, I'm all for it if it means Sheamus, Henry, Show, Orton, Rey,etc are in limited quantities.

Nope all that does is feed the scalpers. Just release them plentiful enough for everyone to get them. Why would I care if it was limited? As long as I can have it on my shelves that's all I care about.

I don't know about anyone one else but I collect other things besides wrestling figures (for example coarsetoys, kid robot, kaws) and they are all released in limited quantities. The prices of each are the same they just put a limit on how many get released and the more exclusive ones get a fewer number. But like I said I was just curious as to what other collector thought about this.

I collect tons of stuff between toy lines, sports memorabilia and I hate looking for chase items that I want.

But like I said I was just curious as to what other collector thought about this. items that have a limited run is usually due to the fact there isnt enough demand for the product and or only a select demographic is interested in the item. in the case of wrestling figures the demand would be to high to release a hogan figure in such a low number. 1500-2500 is an insanely low number in perspective to the worldwide distribution these items have. your example is other items you collect all cost the same but the production #s are different. what are the prices on the secondary market though on the lower # items?

I'm okay with limited release figures, but it has to be done right. Ringside used to do limited numbers with some of their exclusives, this I'm okay with, but don't do it with main lines... Elites and Defining Moments should be released to the masses and enough for all... Hulk hogan is a poor example to use, as it is likely going to be Mattels biggest seller...
Maybe a hogan in blue trunks with the funny chest hair from back in the day, that would be a good "limited" release for RSC... Nothing main stream though, not ever

Do you work for Mattel? Are you trying to see how little you guys can spend while jacking up prices? This is a horrible idea for collectors..

As others have stated, most of is arent in this for the resale or "rarity." We really like these figures and would like everyone to be able to get the ones they want and not have to pay for online fees, shipping, customs fees, etc.
I understand other stuff. I play Magic and you can get tournament value out of them. Toys/action figures dont bring that kind of value.
Tl;dr we want these widely available and affordable. Thanks

Limiting the number made would just reduce Mattel's profit. It makes no sense to lower the number of something made when you'd make more money with more product. Not to mention they have to have a certain production number to break even before they even sell them. That's why RSE cost more.
