I think great whites couldnt survive in captivity due to reasons other than its size. Plus all of these dinos are genetically engineered so they may make them a certain way so they stay tame. That was what the first one was all about. Genetic modifying that went haywire. Pretty much the same as this but for some reason a lot of people are upset with the modified dino in this one. What did people actually think Velociraptors were real dinosaurs? lol. Plus if I recall correctly, the first book had Hammond and Dr. Wu talking a bit about them creating modified hybrids in the future. In the book, yes. I believe so. Plus its the natural progression of the series. This looks like a soft reboot of the franchise. I am okay with that. I have faith in the director. He made good on his no feathers statement, said there will be plenty of practical effects and that the T Rex will be a force to be reckoned with again.

I remember Trevorrow saying that this is the beginning of a new trilogy if the movie does well financially.. And I have a feeling it will do great at the box office. It would be awesome if the 'Jurassic World' sequel picks up right where the first one leaves us. I can't imagine where they'd go with a sequel though.. I don't really see dinosaurs getting off the island, so my guess is Masrani creates a team, including Pratt's character, to go back into the park and restore order.. I mean Jurassic World probably generates a billion dollars every year. I have a feeling that Masrani is going to play the character Hammond actually was in the book, arrogant and greedy. I doubt he'll just shrug his shoulders and move on.. He'll want to get it up and running again. Maybe have a coupon day.

A soft reboot is a reboot without throwing away the past. Starting fresh but retreading some of the same beats. Much like Star Trek did.
This is clearly a redoing of the original film with a modern spin to it. If what you are saying about Masrani is correct then that supports the idea of it being a soft reboot. I fully expect a trilogy, people never wanted the films to stop but they just....did....for a very long time. I look forward to it as a trilogy and as a PLANNED trilogy so it doesnt feel so mishy moshy and disconnected from film to film. I think they will get to the mainland, maybe the whole third movie will be that because come on, that would just be awesome. That Lost World T Rex scene. Oh man!

Oh I think they have a definitive plan going forward. I don't even think they've made this one as a stand alone film, whatever is possibly going to happen in the sequel will probably be hinted at throughout the film or in the final minutes of JW.
I'm great with everything I saw in the trailer, I'm beyond excited! The river tour, that was beautiful.. The raptors sprinting out of their cages like a horse race. The idea of raptors hunting with Chris Pratt to take down a super-predator is incredible. I mean we have an entire RESTRICTED AREA! The possibilities are endless with the Jurassic Park concept. Not just the dinosaur concept, the PARK concept.. And it looks like they're gonna get it right.
BUT, my giant fear and worse case scenario is they go the route of being secretly under a military contract and are trying to weaponize dinosaurs. If they do anything like that, I'm out.. I don't care, won't pay to see my favorite childhood franchise butchered like that.. Also saddling up a raptor. Do. Not. Saddle a raptor.

I'm excited about the prospect that Jurassic World is really a cover for Mesrani's true intention of developing genetically modified dinos to be used as bio-weapons. I'm very intrigued about the story starting off with Hamond's good intentions and turning it into something much more sinister.

And it really looks like it will be going in that direction and I really don't see how that's a bad thing.

No Ian Malcolm?? No Alan Grant?? No Ellie Sattler?? Come on... I so wish they could've got at least one of those 3, mainly Malcolm, to come back, but nope. It still looks good, but having the original 3 main characters back would've been the icing on the cake.
Maybe they just don't need them, I don't know, but I think seeing Dr. Ian Malcolm again would've been awesome.

Glad to see BD Wong can still find work. I always liked him on SVU and he was in the original film too, right? Just watched the trailer. The CGI looks bad. Like, laughable bad. However, the piano score of the theme music was really cool. I'm undecided on this at the moment. I'm expecting the worst but hoping for the best. BD Wong was in Awake (tv series) in a fairly prominent role. If you haven't seen it, you should, it's a great show even though it only lasted one season.

How would turning dinosaurs into military weapons for the US Government butcher the franchise..? I really feel like that's a question that answers itself man.. Did you ever see the original Jurassic Park 4 concept art? Which involved DNA mixing and military weapons. here's a link.

Yeah the core of the franchise to me is people getting in over their heads in a prehistoric safari. If you change that then it just becomes stupid. I want to see people surving in a nature with these things not for it to become some over the top syfy ridiculous fest.

Did you ever see the original Jurassic Park 4 concept art? I want to see a fresh new element and Jurassic World being used as a cover for much more sinister purposes really adds more depth to the story. And unfortunately for you it really looks like that's how it's gonna be, so you might wanna dust off your old VHS copy of the original and save it for the release of JW and watch that instead cause if you just want the same old story then just stick to the original. And this is coming from a huge fan of the original. Back in the day I was obsessed with JP and had tons of JP merch. So, I still don't understand how this will butcher the franchise.
