Around 1994 I bought a bunch of tapes of WCW and WWF Saturday/Sunday programs from a dealer at a flea market. One of the tapes had a WCW Owen match and I was completely shocked. The pre-Bischoff days of WCW seem to have seen a lot of guys come and go whereas Bischoff seemed to have a lot of random guys under contract. In mid 1990s WCW, if Owen were not a Hart family member I can see him being under WCW contract, maybe one of those guys rarely used but getting big dollars, sitting at home. If he were used I see him as doing very well in the cruiserweight division.
I actually remember that. I had told people I read in PWI that Owen Hart was the Blue Blazer and I was quickly mocked at. Once he debuted in wCw everyone could tell but they acted like I never said a thing.
Side note: I actually saw Chris Benoit at a WWE house show a few short months before he returned to wCw for his second stint. He wrestled Owen in a fantastic match. Guess it was a try out and WWE didn't offer him a contract.
Benoit was going to sign with WWF in 95, but requested to be able to wrestle part time in Japan. He was turned down, but WCW said it was ok so he signed with them.
Wrestled a few matches on WCW Saturday Night. I didnt know Owen Hart was the Blue Blazer until 1994, so it was actually my first time seeing him. His last name was Hart, he was billed from Calgary, Alberta, Canada and had a pink singlet so I figured he was Bret Hart's brother although that was never mentioned on TV.
