Like the title says, Abrams will be releasing a new top secret sci-fi movie in the same fashion as Cloverfield. I'm super excited, I hope it's just as good or even better than Cloverfield. I hated Super 8, I found it to be a huge let down so I'm really anticipating his next project.

I didn't care for Cloverfield. Oh and JJ? Keep your focus on what your doing at the moment......STAR WARS. Yeah. I know he's in post production with it but it needs to be perfect, and he's already producing like 3 or 4 other things right now. Cloverfield was alright. I enjoyed it because I think the Blair Witch approach worked for the one installment as a complete human piece, but it's not something I ever wanted to see get a sequel or see duplicated. Super 8 was all homage to Spielberg with the ET and Goonies elements, and it obviously looked like a Spielberg film, but I don't think it was a very good movie. I love original sci-fi but neither of those attempts were anything particularly special in my opinion. We're getting another Pacific Rim as well, so I'm all set in giant monster movie regard since Pac Rim was about 9,000 times better than Cloverfield. I guess we'll see what Cloverfield-Esque really means. I don't want shaky cam, and I don't want a giant monster. JJ has done an amazing job with Star Trek, and Star Wars is seemingly on the verge of elevating him into the next stratosphere. Seems nonsensical to try to duplicate, or even build off of, a marginally entertaining film he made forever ago.

I wish JJ was focusing on the entire new Star Wars trilogy.. Don't get me wrong, I love Rian Johnson, but JJ directing the new trilogy feels right..
Super 8 was fun and Cloverfield was too.. Even tho it had many many issues.

If its so top secret, why is there an article about it already?

I didn't get the big deal about Cloverfield after wfigs hyped it as the biggest movie ever It was Godzilla meets The Blair Witch Project. Not terrible, but definitely overrated IMO. Wasn't there supposed to be a sequel, any chance this is it?

I absolutely LOVED Cloverfield, followed all the viral marketing from the start; hopefully whatever this project is has a similar campaign to go with it!

It best part about Cloverfield was the hype and promotion leading up to it.
Following Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero promotional campaign and then the same company was then tapped for The Dark Knight. Cloverfield (not sure if it was the same company) really had a pretty good campaign and online materials to get interested in.

Cloverfield is one of my favorite film experiences ever. I followed every piece of viral marketing up to its release, and then was thoroughly entertained by the film itself. I'll take anything similar with open arms.

I loved the vital marketing of Cloverfield, but the Godzilla-meets-Blair Witch Project result left me disappointed. To be fair I didn't see it in theaters and I was bit hung over when I saw it. I had to look away a couple times because I was getting nauseous.

I'm also one of those people that closely followed all the viral marketing and then absolutely loved the movie itself. It's for this reason that nearly everything Abrams has attached his name to since has piqued my interest.

Idk even after its dvd release they still had a few things come out with the viral marketing making it seen as though a sequel might happen.
