Take it as you will, Sting fans. I thought this was pretty interesting. Now, will Sting just randomly show up and save the day? www.inquisitr.com/1684744/wwe-refusing-to-call-sting-the-icon-changing-his-nickname-to-the-vigilante/- "Any time any WWE superstars and commentators have mentioned Sting’s name after his debut at Survivor Series, they can’t just call him Sting, as they’re being directed to call him 'The Vigilante' Sting."- "Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer said that WWE’s primary reason for not using “The Icon” as Sting’s nickname in WWE is simply because they didn’t come up with it themselves, which has been WWE’s mentality for several years now. One example of that is WWE never doing a War Games match, which WWE fans have been wanting to see for a long time now. But, because the War Games match was made famous in WCW, WWE never wants to acknowledge its existence."From Merriam-Webster: - "Vigilante: a person who is not a police officer but who tries to catch and punish criminals: a member of a volunteer committee organized to suppress and punish crime summarily (as when the processes of law are viewed as inadequate); broadly : a self-appointed doer of justice"Do you guys think WWE should've let Sting keep The Icon? "The Icon" is more simple, straight to the point, and common sense. The Vigilante and Sting in the same breath does not fit, or flow together in my opinion.

Not surprising in the least.
It's a case of Vince being the kind of guy to cut his nose off to spite his face.

Sting doesn't need a ing nickname he's STING. That's it. maybe instead of trying to come up with hashtags & nicknames this company should....oh i dunno...create interesting STORYLINES and booking their wrestlers properly

Well, they refuse to call the wrestlers for what they are... wrestlers. Seems they have a problem in calling people in what they are in first place.

I'm surprised The Vigilante didn't show up at The Human Demolition Derby to help Big Red.
(They really need to stop it with these horrible nicknames that they constantly try to push.)

Calling him The Vigilante makes him sound like a b-movie protagonist. It's a terrible name. Honestly, I'd rather they dress gun up like Sting but refer to him as Steve Borden. It would be mildly less ridiculous. I really wish Vince could get over himself. He won professional wrestling. No one has ever been as successful at it as he has been and there's a very good chance that no one will ever surpass his legacy. What more could he possibly want?

Why did they even hire Sting? He's not going to draw, and he's anout 15 years past his prime. And if they were planning to hire him, why would you take away his icon tag and make up some other stupid garbage.

I accept them not calling him the Icon but the Vigilante sounds dumb. They're better off calling him the Dark Knight if they want a BS nickname.

Rollins called him "Sting" with no nickname in front of it.

One day the Vigilante Sting won't be able to stop bad things from happening and he'll need help from the Police Sting.

I just think its so awkward how they do these things. It's been less noticeable so far with the vigilante thing but jesus they've shoehorned in "big red" and "demolition derby" so many times in the last month it's cringeworthy. It's like "HEY GUYS WE CAME UP WITH A THING, AND ITS GONNA CATCH ON WHETHER YOU WANT IT TO OR NOT"

WWE was absolutely stupid not to use The Vigilante the night after Survivor Series. I wanted to know the Vigilantes story what the Vigilante was really trying to accomplish. WHO IS THE VIGILANTE?!?!
