How great was the Big Boss Man?! Like for real, now I'm only talking from first-hand experience about his second run from 98 onwards, but his initial run in the late 80's and early 90's LOOK to have been amazing too. Like he was so damn versatile, his gimmick was so perfect and he was so damn good as a performer he could be the harsh, brutal cop but then easily slip into the role of being a guy out for revenge and justice against the heels - very few people I've ever seen have been able to seamlessly jump between the two whilst keeping effectively the same actions and persona.
Now this isn't about how he should have been the Champ or anything, he never seemed to be at 'that' level, but to me he never seemed like someone who needed belts; but I for sure would have LOVED to have seen a good long-ish Boss Man and Austin feud in the early 99, tie Austin up till SVDM and when Rock was done with Mankind. Though I absolutely adore the feud with Taker and the Ministry heading into WM15 - I know I'm in the minority but I LOVE their Cell match so damn much, its one of my personal favourite matches ever...legit!
So yeah, lets get a-talkin about the Boss Man and how he deserves to be inducted into the damn Hall Of Fame!!

I grew up on the corporate Boss Man. With that said, when I was 10 years old and saw Boss Man dragging Big Show's father's casket around, at his dad's funeral no less, I thought it was the most ridiculous thing.
Now the 26 year old me thinks that's one of the greatest things he's ever seen. That whole feud was awesome. Even that garbage feud with Al Snow was pretty good because Boss Man was one of the best a**holes ever.

The first thing I remember whenever he's mentioned is his "sympathy card" for Show's dad. But he is one of the best big men ever IMO.

He was my pick to win the "Deadly Games" Survivor Series tournament back in 1998...
Then he got eliminated in 4 seconds by The Rock...
I chose poorly.

He was special in the late-80s and early 90s. He was a big guy, but he wasn't so out-of-shape that he couldn't produce good matches. When he got down to 315 or so, like WM 7, he was extremely quick. As far as commitment to the character, his intensity and personality always came through. He seemed to lose direction in WCW around the time he became the Guardian Angel, but I have some fond memories of his career.

In an era where nobody kicked out of finishers (except Hogan) the match with Boss Man and The Mountie at SummerSlam 91 was amazing, in that it was the first time for a WWE match, where both men kicked out of each others finishing moves - in fear knowing that if they lost, they go to jail for the night.
That match at SummerSlam 91 may have been Boss Man's best match for his initial run with the WWE. The Wrestlemania VII match would be a close second.

I always enjoyed Boss Man, both as a member of The Corporation and as a singles competitor in the 80s. He was something unique for sure when it came to his in ring work.

I enjoyed the Boss Man quite a bit when he was in The Corporation and what not. He was definitely a favorite of mine. Loved the look and the theme song.

LOVED the Boss Man!
from his debut at Summerslam 88 onwards, he was great. I was at the point of getting more into the heels than the faces at that point, and thought his character was great, the cruel, sadistic law man. had an epic feud with hulk Hogan, which led to the Megapowers vs Twin Towers feud, and the setup to the Mega Powers exploding.
when he turned face in 1990, he was red hot and mega-over. just watch SummerSlam 90,where he comes out to secong hogan. he gets a HUGE pop! then he had that great feud going through the whole Heenan Family, culminating with his match against Mr. Perfect at WrestleMania VII.
sadly, after that, he became a bit of an afterthought, going into a mid-card feud with The Mountie (though it was an enjoyable feud), and by 1992 he was mostly in tag matches. he did have a bit of a resurgence in late summer/fall of 1992 with the Nailz feud. but after that,he went right back to being an afterthought, and would sadly never again gain any real prominence during his first WWF run.
I'll always look fondly at BBM,and he was an integral part of one of the best wrestling era's of my life.

I always enjoyed the Bossman and was delighted to see him back as Vince's enforcer in 98. He left in 1993 didn't he? I didn't miss him for ages.....but that was because he did zero of note for the entire 1992.....
And hell yeah he was CRAZY over when he turned face before WM6......man they totally jobbed Akeem out that night.

I grew up a huge fan, mostly because my dad knew him and looked just like him (legit, he went to an event at the Omni dressed like him when he was Big Bubba Rogers and everyone mistook my dad for the real thing). He was an awesome big man.

As a wrestling fan, The Boss Man will always have a special place with me. He was the first wrestler I was ever a fan of, and I never stopped being a fan. I became a fan, on the tail end of his heel run, and the beginning of his face run, and for me, Hogan wasn't the one that appealed to me, it was The Big Boss Man. Hell one year I even went as him for Halloween. He was a great big man, and he could good heel or face really well. It was always amazing how quick he could move too, considering the size he had. I remember the night he returned to Raw, when he attacked Austin as Vince's masked security guard. When he took the mask off, I marked out big time. I was happy to see him back on TV, and more importantly back in the company he belonged in. As was mentioned by others, his Jailhouse Match with The Mountie as SummerSlam is one of my favorites, not just of his, but of the event in general. They did a nice little build up for the match, the match was entertaining, and then they had the hilarious aftermath of Mountie's trip to the cell, throughout the show. The day I heard he passed away definitely hurt. A bit of my childhood died when he died. I would say somewhere down the line, he's going to have a place in the Hall of Fame, since his had a strong enough career, and the way I always heard, he was well liked by everyone, especially the McMahons.
and of course, his theme was always one of my favorites

The first thing I remember whenever he's mentioned is his "sympathy card" for Show's dad. But he is one of the best big men ever IMO. Im much more fond of the prison guard 80s/90s version of Bossman but I have to admit, even to this day I have his sympathy card remembered... With deepest regrets and tears that are soaked, Im so very sorry your dad finally croaked. He lived a full life on his own terms, now he's be buried and eaten by worms Also, in a creepy turn of events, and I think Ive mentioned this before...I have a friend that took a pick with Bossman right before he died (within a week/few days)

There's a reason he's in the front row of the 91 Royal Rumble Joe Jusko art, he was great. Gimmick was great, he was agile and quick for a big man, the Twin Towers were awesome and an important part of the Mega Powers breakup. I'm looking for a gif of it, but the superplex he took off the top of a cage from Hogan at a SNME was nuts, back in like 89 or 90, it's on the best of SNME dvd set. I bet he hurt his back doing it, he was like 300-400 lbs, the audience freaked out. Apparently he did it more than once, because I just found one from MSG. The SNME one was way worse looking. He's kind of like Beefcake in losing a really strong gimmick by leaving WWF, and never really recovering. It was nice to see him return and reclaim the Bossman moniker, but it wasn't exactly the same. He was just under main event in his height, alongside say Jake Roberts. He sort of took the role Slaughter had previously, law and order of the WWF.

Seeing a man his size try an inside crescent kick on Flair during the Rumble still cracks me up. I think in the same match he gets low blowed and Heenan says "Right in the Cobb County."

Funny story here- my cousin sold a car once to big boss man, I still have the picture at my house somewhere. I got home from a summer job one day and my cousin calls me- we were both about 17 at the time and says " you know that big boss man guy of Wwf? Well I just sold him a car" great day for him

From eating Al Snow's dog to ruining Big Show's Dad's funeral, I don't think anyone was a better heel than Bossman.

One of my earliest favourites as a heel, undoubtedly.
Admittedly when we talk about the best big men normally Vader or Bigelow's name come up first but Bossman is up there for me, definitely.
