I was flipping back and fourth between the show and the Hawks game last night. Didn't know if anyone watched or if there were any winners/losers that anyone wanted to talk about?
I was SUPER happy for Matt Bomer. I'm a really big fan of White Collar and he was great in The Normal Heart, which was an emotional journey to say the least. Lots of phenomenal performances there period.
I haven't seen Birdman yet, but I thought Michael Keaton's speech was great and I'm a fan of his other work. Happy to see Spacey win. Guy is brilliant on House of Cards imo. Heard Bill Murray was awesome in St Vincent but I haven't had a chance to see it yet. My father in law tells me to see it every time I talk to him haha.
Would have liked to see True Detective win best mini-series. I wasn't familiar with a lot of the stuff though. The Affair seemed to be really popular, and Boyhood too but that doesn't look like anything I'm remotely interested in seeing.
Interested to see how these line up with Oscar nominations come Thursday.

I watched it. Super happy that Boyhood won what it did. Incredible film that deserves every bit of praise it receives.
I was fine with Fargo winning mini-series over True Detective, but I really would have liked to have seen McConaughey win best actor.

TD got robbed royally, but at least Fargo got it. I was so hyped to see Keaton win best actor in a comedy/musical.

True Detective aired a full year ago. And as great as it is and as popular as it was, a full year is a long time in terms of voting polls. I'm actually concerned about season 2. True Detective hit HBO, had a huge following and amazing critical praise.. And you've literally heard nothing about it since the final episode of season 1.
That's terrible.

TBH they didn't do a ton of promotion for TD season one. I think they did a story in Entertainment Weekly and some of the other requisite stuff but I felt like it was a show you had to know about to find anything about it.

Word of mouth was huge for season 1.. I didn't tune in until episode 3, and that was after 2 weeks of hearsay. I know they're currently shooting season 2 and I'm excited for it, I just hope it lives up to my probably insane expectations. Which in large part is because of how good season 1 was. I think as far as voting goes, they should have maybe lobbied more for a Globe win. I was already upset that it didn't win dick at the Emmy's, but I wasn't pissed because Breaking Bad deserved it. True Detective deserves more than it has received.

As a fellow White Collar fan, I was excited for Bomer to win. Otherwise I couldn't care less.
