Well saw this movie last night. It was ok. Slow in alot of parts but it picked up. I wonder how many people will say it's the greatest cause Kevin Smith did it? It's worth one viewing and that's about it. And holy crap Haley Joel Osmet is a tub of goo!!!

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. Purchased it on Blu Ray and have watched it multiple times. Even reviewed it on my first podcast.(soundcloud.com/wtdpodcast. Cheap plug) I will agree it's not for everyone, but I enjoyed it for the fun crazy ride it was. And I'm a huge fan of Smith, but it isn't why I enjoyed it.

Absolutely loved it. One of the most uncomfortable experiences I've ever had in a theater for all the right reasons.

I like Kevin Smith as a dude and a couple of his movies, so I've got no allegiance or reason to pretend the movie was amazing.
That said, I liked it. I'd even call it good. It was exactly what it was trying to be. The fact that it even got made makes me happy. Bought it on Blu Ray and saw in theaters.

I found this movie both entertaining and incredibly disturbing. Having your body transformed like that as well as not being able to communicate was very unsettling to me. I liked it a lot but it really freaked me out.

I think a lot of people went into this movie with high expectations and I feel like they forgot who Kevin Smith as a film maker, or didn't understand what the plot was. I went in assuming I wasn't getting an Oscar worthy picture but rather a movie along the lines of like a fun 70s/80s horror with a silly plot; so I was exactly where I wanted to be. Guy Lapointe I thought was one of the funniest characters I've seen in a film lately.
I'm excited for the next two movies in this weird trilogy.

Kevin Smith trolled everyone. In what way? He and his buddy came up with a stupid idea and thought "nobody is doing sh*t like this." And they did it. That's not a troll. A troll would be if he said "Tusk is the greatest film of all time," then purposely make garbage, it makes hundreds of millions, then saying "its clearly terrible, you're all stupid."

A troll would be if he said "Tusk is the greatest film of all time," then purposely make garbage, it makes hundreds of millions, then saying "its clearly terrible, you're all stupid." As soon as it cut to a cross-eyed Johnny Depp, I realized that Kevin Smith was trolling the audience. He wrote these great scenes, they were gripping dialogue scenes that would pull you in and make you invest in the characters and story, then boom.. Johnny Depp the Frenchmen with a cross eye ordering sliders. That's when the movie went from a suspenseful thriller to a "wtf" comedy. 'Tusk' wasn't a movie made mainly because he and his buddy thought nobody was doing stuff like Tusk. Kevin Smith has been making films that no one else is doing his entire career.. Tusk was a fun project that is helping fund Yoga Hoosers, Yoga Hoosers is a project for his daughter that will help fund Moose Jaws, and all three are funding Clerks 3.. Which is Kevin's ultimate goal.. It actually speaks volumes about Kevin Smith's business sense. During the credits they play the Smodcast episode when they come up with the idea, they can't stop laughing at how ridiculous it is.. Look at the reviews for Tusk, and then ask for a review by an actual Kevin Smith fan.. You'll have two totally different answers.

I think cross eyed Johnny Depp was funny. He's going to be in the rest of the trilogy, too. Smith is a weird dude.

I think cross eyed Johnny Depp was funny. He's going to be in the rest of the trilogy, too. Smith is a weird dude. It's not a troll job like you think. It was a troll job knowing he was going to sell the movie on a suspenseful type or horror movie.. And if someone went in expecting that they were probably hating it or confused by it. Because Tusk takes a turn at one point in the movie into something completely different as far as tone. I honestly think Kevin Smith has run out of s to give. He made Tusk because "why not" basically.. He had a plan mapped out once Clerks 3 wasn't picked up. Smith became different after he started smoking massive amounts of pot. I still love him tons, but making things like Tusk, Yoga Hoosers, Moose Jaws.. It's different and odd, but it's mainly confusing.. His mindset has changed a little creatively. But I respect him.

I was extremely uncomfortable during that movie and cringed so much. I had to fast forward some of it, it was too vile Saw it in theaters.. And everyone sat in silence for a solid 2 minutes just looking around at each other trying to understand that this moment was real and yes, we indeed just watched that movie. Me and my buddy were the first ones to start laughing before leaving. It was the craziest film I've ever watched at a movie theater.
