Anyone here a fan? I always thought they were a pretty cool band, especially considering how young they were. It still blows my mind that they were only 15 when Frogstomp was recorded.
Oh... For those who haven't had the pleasure:

Silverchair is amazing. For a while, Anna's Song was a staple for me. I just fiend for that song sometimes. I had never gone back to listen to Frog, but I may need to now that you reminded me. Thanks.

Wow, I was actually just talking about this band last night with my girlfriend.
Frogstomp was a sweet album. I liked every song off of it. And I do remember years later, the Anthem for the Year 2000 song was played a lot on the radio! But it was a pretty good song too.

I want to check out Silverchair, seems like a band I'd like.
Edit: Any recommendations?

Edit: Any recommendations? Just get Frogstomp, let them become your favorite band for like, a month, let them fade into the furthest recesses of your mind, then get the single "Anthem for the Year 2000", then let them disappear from your life forever. Follow that step by step and you'll pretty much have recreated the 1995-1999 experience.

Follow that step by step and you'll pretty much have recreated the 1995-1999 experience. Except for that skips completely over Freak Show, which is an incredible album. I want to check out Silverchair, seems like a band I'd like.
Edit: Any recommendations? Really, really, big fan of Silverchair. I've seen them live twice. Once on the Neon Ballroom Tour and a second time on the Young Modern tour. These are a list of my favorite songs, some order but not necessarily I guess: Israel's Son (Frogstomp) Tomorrow (Frogstomp) Shade (Frogstomp) Pure Massacre (Frogstomp) Suicidal Dream (Frogstomp) Freak (Freak Show) Learn to Hate (Freak Show) Slave (Freak Show) Roses (Freak Show) Abuse Me (Freak Show) Cemetery (Freak Show) No Association (Freak Show) Steam Will Rise (Neon Ballroom) Legitimately one of my top 10 favorite songs ever. Anthem for the Year 2000 (Neon Ballroom) Emotion Sickness (Neon Ballroom) Ana's Song (Neon Ballroom) Miss You Love (Neon Ballroom) Do You Feel the Same (Neon Ballroom) This is where things will probably get interesting for you, assuming you've gotten this far. Johns pretty much started changing the entire sound of the band at this point, which you'll clearly notice in Diorama and especially Young Modern. I think, maybe, he was trying to prove himself as an artist, versus a product of post grunge rock. It's not bad, but it's definitely different. So proceed with caution is my best advice after the first 3 albums, which to me are absolutely amazing and definitely worth owning under any circumstnace. Johns is a ing incredible guitarist and I just prefer he funnel that into more of an alt rock sound than what he did in the last two albums, but to each their own. He definitely saw the tide changing in music and rolled with it. Plus, I can't blame him for not wanting to be held to the sound he created as a kid if he felt he matured as an artist. My Favourtie Thing (Diorama) World Upon Your Shoulders (Diorama) The Greatest View (Diorama) Luv Your Life (Diorama) The Lever (Diorama) Straight Lines (Young Modern) Young Modern Station (Young Modern) All Across the World (Young Modern) Reflections of a Sound (Young Modern) The Man that Knew Too Much (Young Modern)

The pride of Australia at one point; and I have to admit, Frogstomp was a great album considering their age at the time.
Freakshow was good too, but very apparent that they would evolve from a grunge-type sound and never look back...

I learned that Daniel (well the whole band actually) was from Australia and from what I understand... They were still very popular there all the way up until their hiatus a few years ago. I imagine they'll reunite at some point for some shows and maybe a new album. I just hope they play some of the older stuff they shied away from in their later years (Tomorrow, Abuse Me, Point Of View, etc).

I just assumed you were an Aussie because their following is still strong there and they were more or less a one hit wonder band here. Not a big fan myself, but I did love "Anna's Song." Their song about anorexia. The lead singer recently did a solo show. I only heard a clip of it but he did a Nirvana song on the piano.

I didn't know about that show. I'll have to check it out. Daniel has been pretty quiet for the last several years it seems.

One of the best one-hit-wonders of my generation.
I really still love Tomorrow, it's awesome. I wish would've gotten a bigger break.

I've always liked 'Pure Massacre' and 'Cemetry'. But they're not one of my top favourite grunge acts.. I like to listen to Cemetry from time to time, but it's not like I have the NEED to listen to them.

They had 5 albums, all of which were in the top 100 of the Billboard 200. I'm pretty sure every single album they put out had at least two tracks land on the top 50 rock charts. Who refers to Silverchair as a one hit wonder???
