If Mattel is losing money, I'm sure this only means bad things for us collectors. Likely this will result in even less detail/accessories, and even higher prices. Probably worse quality control, at least. If it can get worse.

These posts always make me laugh. The Self Rightousness of the wrestling figure collector.
Talk of "failed lines" like Flex force, and superstrikers. These toys aren't aimed at us, they are aimed at kids. And kids toys need to constantly evolve and change, or kids get very bored of them. Hence, they come and go.
I would hazard a guess that only Lego and Frozen toy lines beat WWE.
Bear in mind that they still beat Hasbro, who have Star Wars, Marvel and Transformers. Marvel and TF 4 toys SUCK. Star wars black are great....if your bubbles miraculously stay on......
Barbie and wider market conditions are the main reason Mattels profits are down ( To a paltry 500 million dollars :-)

This could actually be a good thing, as this guy was more interested in expanding overseas as opposed to making sure to keep developing quality products to keep that top spot in the Toy world.

If they fire Bill we riot. By "RIOT" you mean complain online, right? No, I meant we invade Mattel headquarters.

Mattel losing money? This is an utterly alien idea, that will NEVER happen

I don't how much, if any, the WWE line has anything to do with Mattel's profit-slide....
All I know is - a lot of stores have had empty WWE pegs for long periods of time (months) in my area.
Right now, Target's pegs have been mostly empty for about 3 weeks - from comments I've read on here, some STATES have not seen their exclusive HOF series yet..... my local Walmart hasn't had new WWE Elites or Basics since November. K Mart has been bare since Christmas, although they were pretty consistently well-stocked in 2014.
And Toys R Us? HAH! Do I even have to begin? We're still waiting for at least two lines of new BAF products that have been available in other countries for quite a while.... I've stopped checking TRU, as they either have old product or empty pegs.
Gotta get the products on the shelves, Mattel! How many extra million could Mattel have made last year IF THEY'D SIMPLY GOTTEN THE PRODUCTS STOCKED? They should seriously take a look at their distribution, there is a breakdown somewhere.
Also seems like we go loooong periods between new figure waves! I'd spend more money if there was more products to buy!

I read that Mattel workers had been locked up and not allowed to be creative, among other things (including boss's falling in love with PowerPoint, and over using it - I'm paraphrasing)
Now I'm probably just reading what I want into this, but maybe this is a sign that things will open up a bit for bill in relation to design budget and creativety. I have always felt, Bill has wanted to do more, but was limited. Maybe it doesn't change, but he's hoping it does.

Might be easier to just post what found...
Mr. Stockton took the CEO job three years ago and has presided over a long run of weak results. People inside the company and at customers attributed the slide to a growing focus on the numbers and overseas expansion at the expense of the company’s creative side. The company’s executives became entangled in a culture that valued endless meetings and long PowerPoint presentations. Meanwhile, smaller competitors like VTech Holdings Ltd. were taking shelf space and Lego A/S was challenging Mattel’s position as the largest toy company.

The article says he took over in 2012. Mattel was already making WWE figs by then. Nothing really changed then, nothing should really change now.

Are the Mattel figures really selling that bad? Every store I go to Wal Mart, Toys R Us, and Target are always out of stock. And when they do get figures in they usually get raided within a few days.

If WWE goes back to Jakks, I'm going to stop collecting. Mattel WWE Figures are the bomb.

WWE and Mattel have a contract. I'm sure there's a buyout clause, but they have a contract. A change at the top isn't going to affect that.

The article says that "Full-year net profits for the world's biggest toy company slid more than $400m (£266m) to $498.9m." So they may have MADE money, but they made LESS money. At least read the article before posting such drivel!

The reason for the resignation is due to stagnant sells from the Barbie and Hot Wheels lines. While sells are still strong for them, Mattel stockholders were hoping for better numbers especially after the numbers for the holiday season got tallied. They are more concerned about revitalizing those brands versus cutting others. It's hard to keep Barbie fresh and relevant when she's almost old enough to collect social security. Basically she is the John Cena of Mattel and they need to do something besides a new dress or gimmick.

"Marvel and TF 4 toys SUCK. Star Wars Black are great...". Why is that? Is it because Marvel and specifically TF 4 toys were dumbed down? BTW, I think figure lines need a good mix of kids and adults to survive. Look at Max Steele. I bet Mattel poured a lot of resources into that failure.

By "RIOT" you mean complain online, right? No, I meant we invade Mattel headquarters. Mattel has superb customer service. They'd probably just let us in.
