While going through the Last Album you listened to - thread (which is a great thread btw.) it got me thinking how good 1991 was. So many great albums came out that year and I don't recall another year having that many amazing records. I'm talking about stuff like
Nevermind - Nirvana Ten - Pearl Jam Blood Sugar Sex Magik - Red Hot Chili Peppers Metallica - Metallica Use Your Illusion - Guns N Roses Greatest Hits II - Queen Badmotorfinger - Soundgarden
So anybody else a huge fan of 1991?

I was randomly watching the 1991 I love the 90s episode yesterday! It would have been a pretty good year, even had the song Rico Suave that no one under the age of 25 knows existed!

personally as a child of the 90s, 90-98 were great years to be alive as a music fan.
another classic from 1991, Skid Row's Slave to the Grind.

Some amazing stuff came from that year:
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless. Slint - Spiderland. Talk Talk - Laughing Stock. Massive Attack - Blue Lines. Primal Scream - Screamadelica. Mr. Bungle - Mr. Bungle. Slowdive - Just for a Day.
I know you said rock, but A Tribe Called Quest's "The Low End Theory" came out that year too and that's one of my favorites of all-time.

I was in high school in 91, and it was a pretty good year for music, but I hesitate to call it The Best of even my lifetime. But there was some good music.

It's ridiculous to list rock albums from 1991 and not include the 2 best albums released that year...
U2 - Achtung Baby REM - Out of Time

My older brother graduated HS in 1992 and always talks about that time being great for rock music.

Not sure, but these albums are from '91 and are in my CD collection of the top of my head...
(excusing stuff already mentioned by the OP)
...if you know me by now, my tastes are a tad heavier...
Arise - SEPULTURA Effigy Of The Forgotten - SUFFICATION No More Tears - OZZY OSBOURNE Blessed Are The Sick - MORBID ANGEL War Master - BOLT THROWER Butchered At Birth - CANNIBAL CORPSE Necrotism: Descanting The Insalubrious- CARCASS

Personally I'd say 1980 was the greatest year in rock history.
Back in Black - AC/DC Blizzard of Ozz - Ozzy Osbourne
I could stop there since those two cement the year for me, but...
British Steel - Judas Priest Ace of Spades - Motorhead Lightning to the Nations - Diamond Head Heaven and Hell - Black Sabbath
Queen had a couple of albums out, Journey had one of their biggest hits, Iron Maiden and Loverboy had their debut albums... Damn this was a good year. 91 was great too, don't get me wrong, but I think 1980 is just so much better.

For me 1993 was pretty amazing.
Bloody Kisses - Type O Negative Get A Grip - Aerosmith Hints Allegations Things Left Unsaid (The debut of Collective Soul) Siamese Dream - Smashing Pumpkins
But honestly the entire 90s decade was just unbelievable.

I like a lot of these albums listed. But, two years trump '91 and that is just off of the top of my head. I'll post a few examples in a moment...even though it shouldn't take many.
1967.. & 1977.... in general, both were bigger than '91 IMO. Just on so many levels. Though I'll think of some seminal albums from each here in a minute.
