What part of that do you need me to explain further? None of it, as one of those people u explained it perfectly.i refer to it as my jakks hang over. Although I did get some of the earlier sets of legends I was still cranky that Jakks had lost the licence. I do also think that the sheer rubbish that was released at the very end of the CS line didn't help things. (Now I have to chase them down cause I would like a complete CS set one day) Awesome gets mate. Congrats on the new gets. Dude, we totally need a Macho Man and Ultimate Warrior Elite figures wearing the attires featured in your post. Also, seeing all of the Legends figures in the first post makes me wish I hadn't opened all of mine up...

I still keep the card backs around in a folder because of how much I loved those portraits.

Legends Hillbilly Jim and George Steele are real nice and don't get talked about much. Agreed. In 2010 and 2011 Mattel was nailing these Legends sculpts. So expressive. Hard to believe how detailed these sculpts that were presumably composites from old photos were, and they looked spot-on but most early head-scans were bland and innacurate. The same company made that lump of a John Cena made Jake Roberts, Iron Sheik, Kamala, Hacksaw, Slaughter, The Road Warriors, Steele, Hillbilly Jim, Mr. Perfect, and so on. Thinking back, we actually had it pretty awesome and didn't realize. It was hard to know if Mattel wasn't going to be temporary and what their output would be five years down the road.

Sooooo....why did the legends line fail?? Cause now a days every collector is looking for them. It mostly had to do with people starting new collections. Most of your Mattel Legends collectors are also JAKKS Classic collectors. We had all the guys that Mattel could promise (outside of Steamboat) because Savage & Von Erichs were released yet. Then JAKKS promised/mislead the collectors in believing the Classic line was going to continue with the Legends of the Rings line that had Sting, Nash, Hogan etc in it. Once most JAKKS fans realized it was over, they either stopped collecting or jumped over to the Mattel line but by that time it was too late and the damage was done. People can say it was attire choices all they want but that's simply not accurate. When Mattel put out the Hall of Fame series which was almost straight rereleases, it killed the figures chances of selling. I agree, but I would also factor the odd character choices as well. Series 1 should've included popular characters like Bret, Shawn, Macho, along with less known guys like Kamala, Funk, and Akeem. Also I think Mattel tried hard to distance themselves from the Jakks Classics line, and ended up shooting themselves in the foot.

Beautiful!
I bet if Mattel resurrects this line some how, it will sell just fine. At least DM's are back for now.

Great pick up!
As an old Hasbro fan, Mattel nearly got me back collecting with this line. Then they stuffed it up massively.
Shame.
