I wouldn't have made it had I known I had to read the new comics to be a true fan. I guess that makes sense? There's years and years of superior stories. I really don't understand what the big deal is in regards to people getting upset that there's hundreds of better Batman stories out there... If someone only watches "Total Divas" and never watches tv or ppvs, are they really a wrestling fan? How would you feel if someone like that tried to claim that they were a wrestling fan because they only watch Total Divas? Does that make sense? I don't think I'd care one bit.

You can certainly tell a lot about a person who claims to be a Batman fan, watches this show, and doesn't read any of the comics. That is a rather ignorant comment, wouldn't you say? Why do I need to read the comics to be a fan? Agreed To me its like the pot calling the kettle black because theres so many different takes on universes and trust me Im a Bats purist and prefer the comic books BUT for instance take the Arkham RS games which are normally the top games of the year and they add characters and stories and in the third one out this June they created a brand new Character the Arkham Knight . Oh and being so close minded to new Batman characters interpretations and stories you wouldnt have Harley Quinn who was created by Dini in the 90s for BTAS or Bane or Hush to name a few so I basically mean how many times can the same old stories and Characters as great as they are be rehashed over and over without a new take on them

The tone is right, but the lack of Batman sort of kills it for me. I understand what they are trying to do, and I am a big fan of Donal Logue, but Ben Mackenzie (who I like) just doesn't strike me as someone who becomes Commissioner Gordon. And then there's Jada. Oh my god. She's really difficult to take seriously, and when she is on it feels like 'her show' in a way that I can't describe...and not in a good way. I can watch it, but I find it difficult to get into.
Just to chime in on the argument, I think you can be a fan of Batman in essence without reading the comics. For the sake of argument, if your only knowledge of Batman is the first...Keaton movie (just for example) and nothing else, but you liked what you saw, you can be a Batman fan. On the other hand, you can still be a huge fan, read all of the comics, etc, and appreciate a 'different' interpretation than what is accepted by purists. My favorite DC superhero is Superman. I've seen all of the movies, and when I was younger read soooo many of the comics. Although Christopher Reeve will always be Superman to me, Tom Welling is a close second. In fact, Smallville overall is likely my favorite interpretation of that world as a whole. Rosenbaum is my favorite Lex, John Snyder and Anette O'Toole were perfect Kents, Erica Durance was the perfect Lois. And then there is the spectacular Lionel Luthor (as played by the magnificent John Glover) and Chloe Sullivan, neither of whom were part of the comics prior to the show (Lionel may still not be). I'm no less (or worse) a fan of Superman than a comic purist. Saying things like 'you call yourself a fan' and 'wouldn't x be a better fan' is just not cool.

Very well said and its just kinda of a preference of what we all like most but to say one person is less a fan because he prefers Keaton 89 vs Batman 66 is silly dont you think ? As I grew up on Batman 66" and as a small child I thought it was real ! lol and to my horror years later I found out it was a spoof and I was heartbroken as I thought it was life and death as a 5 year old but today I still appreciate for what it was .

I haven't read a comic since the end of the "Hush" or "Bruce Wayne Fugitive" story (whichever was last) mainly because I was tired of driving an hour each way to my comic shop in Lake Hiawatha NJ after we moved to NY. The only comic book store around me is T0y W1z and I refuse to give them a cent of our money. But that doesn't change the fact that I have been a huge Batman fan since the early 70's.
Like I said earlier in this thread I do like the show for the most part. I do enjoy the GCPD, Penguin, Crime families and Alfred/Bruce aspects of the show. What I don't like is how all his Rogues seem to know each other as kids. Get rid of the kid Rogues and I would have no complaints.

Yeah, I read that a couple of weeks ago. It's certainly a good thing in my eyes. I always thought Penguin would end up killing her or something though. Y'know, cause penguins eat fish? lol

Hopefully Fish is gone for good. Found her character and story to be insanely boring.

Fish's story has just about nothing to do with anything. This may not have been so bad if she was a good character, but she's not even that so I hope she bleeds out and crashes her helicopter into the sea.

Not a bad finale and it looks like its moving forward faster than I expected as they weeded out many characters so hopefully they will focus on a story line ?

Watched the last 2 episodes last night and they were good, i'm happy that Fish Mooney is dead since her story was a waste of time. A little surprised that Falcone just "retired" out of the blue.

Since we didn't actually see a body, I have a bad feeling that they could bring her back in the future - maybe S3 or S4 (if the show gets that far), since Pinkett-Smith said she isn't coming back for S2.

Of course I expect a Cameo down the road as she just didnt fit in so good riddance for now but I was shocked at Maroni but I guess they gotta start pushing the Penguin full time so at least it seems like the writers read what most fans are saying . I really hope the jump forward a few years and lose the little boy Bruce Wayne as I dont care for his acting or look .
