I'm sure we all have a similar story -- there's this one band that we just know everyone will love if they get their shot, but for whatever reason it didn't work out. Despite being a rock guy, they're mostly rap groups for me. Although they are on the whiter side of rap:
The O (Their album "Mutant Home Demos" is the greatest of all time. I don't care what anyone says. Available on Spotify. EDIT: They are referred to simply as "O" on Rhapsody, Amazon and Spotify)
Gonna Get Got (Formed after The O broke up and their drummer went on to do the music for Blues Clues oddly enough. Started as a solo project but was joined by the other former member of The O later on. Some albums available on Spotify)
Plastic Little (Nerd rap at its finest. They describe themselves as Harry Potter meets Star Wars and driven one night stands meets Sunday calls home to Mamma. Just checked to see if they were available on Spotify and I became their 461st follower. lol)
Mindless Self Indulgence (This bad is a little different in that they've made out on their own terms. They've been very successful without much mainstream attention. Completely different than the groups mentioned above, and completely different than most other bands you'll ever great. Also available on Spotify)
Those are just a few off the top of my head, who are some of the bands you guys wish had made it?

Not a band, but I'd say Amy Winehouse. Some might think she made it, but I think she could of been a mega star if she could of stayed sober.

I've got a couple bands not necessarily that "never made it" but bands I wish were bigger. Though there's still chance for them because they're still around but they'd have to sell out and change their styles. 1. Bigelf. They're very much like a more proggy Sabbath and they are awesome. I saw them on Prog Nation with Dream Theater a number of years ago but they disbanded for a while after the lead singer/Keyboardist fired everyone. They just recently reformed after Mike Portnoy begged and pleaded with him to not let it die. He played drums on their newest album. 2. Eden's Curse. They're another kind of band that I discovered because of ties to Dream Theater. James Labrie sang on their song No Holy Man. 3. Striker. These guys opened for Metallica on their 2 shows they did in Edmonton a couple years ago after they won a contest with a local radio station and they were killer. I can't imagine them being huge but I'll be super stoked if they do because they are damn good. They also do the best worst music video ever 4. Unleash The Archers. A band from Vancouver that is like an awesome combination of Nightwish meets Dragonforce meets In Flames. Badass.

Foxy Shazam is my favorite band. They had a couple of songs that got minor notoriety, but they never really "made it" from what I can find. I love their entire self titled album and The Church of Rock and Roll is quite good as well. Their lead singer is amazing.

Underoath. Despite my lack of a religious background to relate to them, they're one of my most influential bands and are greatly responsible for shaping my interests in music today.

Cold Chisel. They've been going for 37 years strong but never really made it outside of Australia and New Zealand.

Injected for sure. They had a minor hit with "Faithless" back around '02, but broke up while recording their second album unfortunately. The lead singer was cool enough to post all the demos they had recorded for that album a few years later just so the fans could hear the album.

Bonnie McKee, she's a very talented singer/songwriter who everytime she gets a chance, she gets screwed by a record label and gets buried. She had an album out back in 2004 but she was trying to put out a new album since 2013 but she got dropped from her label again.

wouldn't say they are even in my top 40 fave bands, but Spark is a Diamond always amused me... I believe their vocalist is now a sex education professor

Well I think it really all depends on what you consider "made it" to mean...
Alter Bridge never has and never will reach the mainstream level that Creed was at, does that mean they didn't make it?

flop, a seattle band from the early 90s, never got the break they deserved but did have some levels of success. whenever you're ready is a great album, and in my opinion was a massive precursor to the garage bands we see now excelling (ty segall, king tuff, wavves, fidler, etc).

Yeah I kinda agree as I consider making it having a album or two that didnt do much and then you split up

MacReady and saintpatrick33, by "never made it" I meant bands that never made it out of obscurity, but however anyone wants to define it for themselves is fine.
