edit: Sorry for the giant pics. They were much smaller on imgur.
Long time lurker here. Wanted to show off my wrestling set-up and part of my collection. I've been working on it for a couple years now and I'm very proud of what I've amassed. It's what I always wanted to have when I was a kid and one day as an adult I said, "Hey, I can do that now!" and I've been working on it ever since.
The showdown for Brock vs Rock 2! Vince is trying to keep things in check and brought Johnny Ace as backup.
As you can see, it's a Raw ring with red ropes. I'm a big fan of the brand split and I always appreciated that Raw and Smackdown had their own distinctive looks. Tried to keep that theme with the red ropes. Ropes and turnbuckle pads are from ESR, everything else is ASR. Two sets of ring steps for realism. You can also see some of the barricade (Mattel). It surrounds the ring.
I also have a Smackdown ring set up that I swap with the Raw one. I wanted an extra ring for pieces just in case stuff broke. I had enough room to try setting it up and just found that it was easier to swap entire rings rather than undo everything just to switch ring skirts. Everything is ASR except the ropes (RSC).
Raw and Smackdown announce teams. Sometimes I swap out one of them for Del Rio and Ricardo to act as the Spanish announce team. JBL has been known to fill in for Booker. I'm a huge fan of non-wrestler figures. The announcers are removed from the ringside area in a little alcove like they are on TV.
The time keeper area. Ricardo Rodriguez is pulling announcing duties while some guy (totally not Ambrose) acts as timekeeper. The ring bell and microphones add a little realism, I think. Off-camera to the left is a curve in the barricade so you can spear someone through it and they'll land in the crowd next to the timekeeper.
The Raw Entrance Stage. I don't update it for the Smackdown arena just because it's a hassle. I might replace it with the upcoming blank entrance stage, but it looks a smaller than this Kmart one and this one feels small enough as it is when you have a bunch of people on it. The Rhodes Scholars are ready for action.
The authority shooting a backstage interview. I really hope they make a Mean Gene figure at some point. He's sorely needed. Custom Ric Flair using a DM head, JR upper body, and Heyman lower body. He looks a little short (and fat) in this picture, but this custom is nearly the same height as DM Ric. Had I known a basic Ric was in the pike, I would've saved 10 bucks when I just wanted a head.
Punk and ADR face off backstage.
Mingling backstage.
Vince going over some last minute details in Gorilla. If I get the upcoming entrance stage, I'll probably connect the back of that to this playset.
The GM's office door.
The Brothers of Destruction hanging out in a hallway. The walls open up for access to the GM office on the other side for playability.
COO Triple H meeting with Batista and JBL in his office.
The hallway also leads to the gym/locker room. Ignore the GM sign. I don't want to peel it off.
Workout time! Or maybe not. It's a ghost town.
Obviously this is made using two Performance Center playsets. I love the backstage playsets that Mattel has been putting out. Even though they don't see as much action as the ring and ringside area, it's nice to have when I want. It's better to have more play possibilities than fewer.
The locker room. The black curtain leads to the showers. Note: The showers don't actually exist.
This is my active roster. As I said, I am a big fan of the brand split and I keep it alive! The top shelf is Raw. The middle shelf is Smackdown. The bottom shelf is both, hence the separation of the two sides.
The bottom shelf. Left side is Raw, right side is Smackdown. It's overflow of the first two shelves, divas, managers, and GMs (either Vickie or Lauranitis for Raw, either Teddy Long or Booker for Smackdown). Sometimes I'll have a draft and switch it up. Sometimes I feel like adding ECW to the mix and the bottom shelf becomes ECW. This bookshelf is only who I use as current roster.
I also have another bookshelf full of figures divided by era. It ranges from 80's-New Generation, Attitude-Ruthless Aggression, Ruthless Agression-less recent versions of PG-era. I plan on getting the Classic Steel Cage ASR to use as a classic ring for my retro wrestlers. I also have a box full of duplicate elites and basics that I don't use anymore and an insane amount of belts and accessories (both Mattel and RSC). I think Mattel's done a much better job than Jakks ever did, and I appreciate that the accessories look a lot more realistic than what Jakks gave us (except the tables).
At one point I even had foam floor mats for the ringside area that fit with the old wrestling superstore barricades (not a big fan of those), but removed them when I replaced that barricade for the Mattel one. Will definitely be making more floor mats when the RSC barricade comes out. The Mattel one is too short and doesn't fit snugly together. If anyone is wondering about floor mats, craft store Michael's sells foam sheets for about a dollar a piece that are perfect. Just cut them to proper specifications (measuring and using a straight edge is WAY better than using scissors). It also helps close the gap between the ASR ring skirts and the floor. Smaller pieces at the ringside entrance can be pulled up for piledrivers on the concrete. To keep all mat pieces together, use electrical tape on the underside to tape them together, leaving a line untaped at the entrance to be pulled up to expose the "concrete".
