Now, before you come in here with your pitchforks and torches, understand this, I love NXT. It is a fantastic product and the live specials are usually incredible. However, I feel like it gets such a high praise that at times, it doesn't deserve. As if no one wants to touch upon the faults of the brand. And don't get me wrong, I not saying that NXT is riddled with problems or that, the good can't outweigh the bad. It's just,as I said, we seem to ignore them outright, which seems unfair. I'll give two examples of, in my opinion, faults, and why I think it's a generally great product, but at times,it's not God's gift to wrestling.
-The tag scene is poor. Like, WWE gets a lot of criticism for their tag division or lack of rather. Which, I agree, but NXT is no better. They rushed the belts to Blake and Murphy and that leaves one less team in the hunt. I mean, their tag division consist of like four teams and the problem in my eyes is that, NXT isn't a place to have multiple title runs. Because I feel like, you work for the respective division, you work your way up, and then once you win the belt, it's all downhill from there, in a good way though. You hold the belt for a bit, drop it, hang around for a short time after, then move up to the main roster. If not, you hang around, but putting the belt on someone twice seems like a waste. But anyways, four teams and the division doesn't get a lot of dedication given to it.
-The favoring of indy talent over homegrown guys. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand that guys like Owens, Sami, Hideo, and others are world traveled and highly skilled. But it seems like they get more time and energy dedicated to them than guys like Breeze or Bull. I understand that some guys need work before they get major pushes, but it feels like they don't try hard enough to diversify the roster. One or two guys slip through the cracks, but the top talent is all this former indy/puro talent and I feel like it's kinda boring. I don't hate Bull, sure he had a bad match with Baron, but I think he has potential, but how can he grow and show that if he's not being given opportunities to do so? And frankly, I feel like people underrate guys and write them off as talentless or whatever, simply because they don't have that big of a pre-WWE background, if any at all. I just feel like, NXT is great, it is a highlight of the week for me. But, it's not always on point and sometimes I feel like it gets way more praise than it should. But, I'm probably the only one.

Yes. Plain and simple.
Absolutely everybody should get pushed over Bull. He's currently the worst wrestler on the roster.

I voted "yes".
I get what you're saying though. I think I thought the same thing last week when I was watching, like, "would I like this as much if it wasn't WWE", or if, "it wasn't as over with the crowd?"
When I first started watching I didn't know everyone on the Internet thought it was awesome, and I thought it was good. I think the reason why I like it is because HHH makes it and he's as much of a mark as I am and he's making a show he would want to watch.
What I mean is, he said it was designed to appeal to hardcore wrestling fans.

NXT feels even better after watching an episode of RAW.
NXT is probably the only WWE show I don't fast forward on my DVR.

I totally understand, I think half the appeal is that, it is so over with the live crowd and it truly gives this sense of excitement. Again,I love NXT, I just think there are faults that get ignored because the show pushes our indy favorites or has great matches, which is understandable in why that makes it such a great product. But, sometimes I think it's overrated.

If you can actually sit through 3 hours of Raw is Bore then I give you some mad props. You are as MUCH as bigger wrestling fan than me and I've been watching for over 18 years.
I think the main product is awful at the moment. I have Raw on as background noise mostly and havent watched Smackdown, Superstars, Main Event, etc. in YEARS.
However, I love NXT and actually look forward to seeing it every week. I love the old school simplicity and feel of the show. I love the flow and fantastic work rate. It's just a great wrestling program.
I'm not making this about NXT vs. WWE at all but to me NXT is a damn near perfect 1 hour wrestling program.

Can't really compare it to WWE. If NXT were three hours it would not be as good.

Absolutely. It's highly produced, and well written. You can see how hungry all these guys are too.

I mean, you can't expect NO faults in the DEVELOPMENTAL brand. Guys like Bull, Corbin and Hideo still need work. Still so much better than the main roster.

I agree with you about the tag division being poor to some degree. It has been for some time really but they're kind of transitioning now. I think the Ascension sucks but they anchored those titles for a long time. The Lucha Dagons do nothing for me but people seemed to love them. Both those teams have or almost moved on. So that hurt the division by default. Enzo and Cass seem to finally be getting more focus in the actual tag division and they are easily one of the best parts of NXT imo. So that's going to help. Vaudevillians, BAM, Redneck Wrecking Crew or whatever the hell Dawson's team is called, and Enzo and Cass make a formidable division. The nature of NXT is for guys to move on so the roster is always going to be at an influx for the most part.
The one hour format is also absolutely perfect. I've had this discussion before but it doesn't over saturate your talent and it leaves you wanting more. When two hour specials do occur they feel extremely special because you are getting more of something you love. The format is as big a part of NXT's success as anything else.
Also, everything is linear. There is no attempt to over complicate angles and they essentially acknowledge that people already know what's going on. So they aren't busy trying to curve a storyline to some kind of agenda or undermine your intelligence with anything. This, again, is part of why the format is so good.
The talent is there right now though. NXT has world class talent putting on world class matches on what is considered WWE's minor leagues. Anywhere else in the world that's just considered world class pro wrestling. So the talent is delivering to go along with the other things going on for the show.
Is it perfect? No. Does it manage to deliver entertainment every single week? Absolutely, for me anyway. That's all I really want is to be entertained and NXT does that better than any other wrestling readily available to me.

I don't view it as WWE vs. NXT. There are things I enjoy on Raw, NXT, Smackdown, etc. However, NXT is easily the most enjoyable of all of those shows. I understand that the main roster has to be a lot different for multiple reasons and that's fine. NXT is the only show that I do not fast forward through ever and even when it's not a great episode, it's still entertaining and enjoyable.
Also, everyone should be pushed ahead of Bull Dempsey. Because Bull Dempsey sucks. It's not all about the indy guys though. Baron Corbin, Tyler Breeze, Enzo Amore, Blake and Murphy, Charlotte and others that weren't big on the indies have enjoyed success. The reason that Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, etc. get so much shine is because they're far ahead of most other guys on the roster at the moment.

Yes, it's a damn great show. Watching Raw now sometimes I get easily distracted and don't mind. NXT on the other hand, I cannot and do not miss even a second of it.

Yeah, Bull really sucks ass imo. I see people here and there say they like him and I just don't get it. Nothing redeemable there at all. Tyler Breeze, on the other hand, is ing awesome. He's a main focus of the show though. We see him nearly every week. He's bounced into the title picture some and his character is as good as any on NXT or the main roster. Guy is great and will continue to be there and get better. The Breeze character is TV ready and I'm happy he figured it all out. I was a Mike Dalton fan and he's come such a long way since that time.

Yes, as others have said, it could improve OF COURSE, but I'd rather watch NXT week to week than Raw, or Smackdown, or TNA.
There's a huge number of characters I tune in to watch in NXT, because they consistently put on a good show, and make the show worth watching. I'm invested in than more than I'm invested in many guys on the main roster of WWE.

I do like how Bull Dempsey and Rhyno literally have the same promo.
Bull Dempsey: "The people will be chanting Bull...Bull...BULL!"
Rhyno: "The people will be chanting Gore...Gore...GORE!""

It should be stated, so far, there's 100% agreement about it. On this forum, that says a lot.
