Key word is gimmick.
Im sure punk could do decent in a fight, I whole heartedly don't expect him to win though unless UFC feeds someone to him.
Even Brock Lesnar lost his first UFC fight, I would be shocked if Punk didn't lose as well.

Didn't he train in multiple styles of mma legit tho cause I know he uses some mma moves throughout his career

Because in all likelihood, he's going to get his ass kicked.

He dabbled in jiu jitsu for a while as more of a conditioning thing rather than a "this will be my future career" Thing. Thats why people think he will get his ass handed to him. Though word coming out is that he's training his ass off to make up as much ground as possible for someone coming into UFC with no fight experience so at least he's taking it seriously.

I dont see why anyone thought he wouldnt take this seriously. He's always been a dedicated and smart guy. Why some people are acting like Punk threw on some board shorts and thinks he can fight is beyond me. Judging from recent interviews he knows he isn't going to be that good for some time and doesn't even seem like he expects to be a future UFC champion. This isn't Batista trying to do MMA at almost 50, this is a known MMA supporter and smart man trying out something he enjoys to achieve what seems to be a personal goal and enjoy some monetary gain. Nothing against that from this guy.

I knew just from the passion he talked about MMA in his interviews with Arial Helwani that he would take it seriously if he ever got the chance to fight.

In all likelihood, he's going to get romped. They're going to go with a guy with similar experience they say, but they need a name that will sell PPV buys opposite him. If he were going against a 1-0 guy on an undercard, he'd stand a chance, but his first fight? Nope.

This isn't Brock who came off an extremely dominant first fight and an NCAA career into an extremely thin Heavyweight division. This a legit amateur fighter having his first professional fight, Dana White is not dumb enough to piss away millions by strolling Punk out there what would probably be his first and only fight if he faced a top guy.

I know. But at the same time, Dana has said (or one of the higher ups) that they're looking for it to be a name against Punk. Maybe not a big name, but someone that people will know.

Then it'll be a guy past his prime that's been in the UFC for a while. Edit: most likely.

Do you think Punk's UFC fight will be booked to where Punk wins UFC isn't scripted. It isnt scripted but they can put people in fights where clearly one guy is a little better then the other and then they take their chance.

because CM Punk "fans" (those douchebags who only care for him performing, and nothing else) turned on him ?? I like him still, but that has nothing to do with how I think someone will fair in MMA.
