Now this is totally hypothetical and I know it will probably never happen. And no, I'm not saying this will happen because of any wrestler or such nonsense.
But what if WWE went out of business? Poof. It's gone forever. What would happen? Would another company rise up or would wrestling's mainstream appeal be gone forever? Casual fans aren't going to watch/track down ROH shows. TNA is tainted and will never get bigger than it is I think.
Would Jeff Jarrett FINALLY bring GFW up? Maybe.
I would guess that HHH would scrape together funds and start his own company with Steph.
This is an interesting/somewhat scary though...what do you think would happen?

One thing is for sure. TNA would get unwarranted criticism for using former WWE stars.

If WWE went out of business, the only ones would benefit would be the wrestlers themselves IF a lot of territories started up again.
Imagine that, if all of a sudden, wrestlers and promoters had territories again in their little areas because of WWE not being around. It would be like everything went back to 1983 again.

I would say "it will never happen", but we've seen crazier things happen in the business world. That being said, with WWE being publicly traded, I don't see them ever going completely under and disappearing like WCW or the like. They could very well sell the company, but I don't see them ever just completely disappearing.

Just take WCW as an example, it did happen, plenty of people tuned in at 6:05 or 8:05 for decades, then poof. I'm guessing someone would step in, but it's possible that wouldn't happen. Whoever could get a hold of the library would have a good start. We seemed pretty close in the mid 90s with Raw taking place in what looked like high school gyms.

I don't think the mainstream appeal would be entirely gone. While it is true that the casual fanbase doesn't know of any pro wrestling outside of WWE, social media allows those fans to follow whatever their favorites would be doing. Say Daniel Bryan were to return to Ring of Honor and promote it on his Twitter, then the fans who had only been exposed to Bryan via WWE could put their eyes on ROH's product.

I think brands like ROH TNA etc would rise up, but I don't think any will be as big as WWE ever was, and I also don't think there will be a #1 company to take WWE's place.

I'm honestly not sure. I kind of see the return of a territory system to some degree. I have to think a pretty decent portion of the casual audience will just stop watching wrestling. That won't be the case with us. We'll just tune into some kind of an alternative to get a fix. So GFW, NJPW, ROH, or whatever other company(ies) pops up. I do think WWE is the driving force behind the pro wrestling business in the United States. I hope that's not something that I ever have to see.

I would buy as many different DVDs as possible then buy a lot more figures cards ect. Then I would watch atleast 3 hours of wrestling a night play with my figures and look at cards

Technically, if WWE just "poof" was gone, and Triple H & Stephanie started their own company....wouldnt they just be WWE? I mean, you gotta assume they're going to use the same guys and probably continue storylines before going bankrupt....just sayin

Pro wrestling will never go away completely, but there is no guarantee that WWE will exist decades down the line. Bobby Heenan once said that every company eventually runs out of ideas to keep it viable. I hope that's not the case with WWE in 10 or 20 years, but stranger things have happened.

I honestly think the business resets to the way it was in the territory days, only instead of territories there would basically be a giant indy wrestling world war.
Either that or New Japan Pro Wrestling becomes number one and gains a good bit of the WWE roster that fits a spot in order to go worldwide.

Honestly i think they would need to do something with the name. World Wide Wrestling Federation was easy to take global name wise, not sure how everyone would feel with the number one promotion in the world going global but having Japan in the name might deter alot of people for dumb reasons. I wouldn't care a bit but people are simple minded now a days. |
