I'd pay 100 bux easily if this set came with entrance gear and belts.

While it would be cool if these type of figures were branded as WCW/ECW/NWA/whatever instead of WWE, personally it doesn't bother me what the packaging looks like, I'm more interested in the figure inside. Plus as has already been said, WCW, ECW and many other defunct promotions are now owned by WWE so in effect their history has become part of WWE's history anyway.
As far as I'm concerned the more areas of wrestling's history Mattel covers in their Legends/Flashback figures, the better. In fact I wish we could get WCW/NWO superstars even more often than we currently do.
That said, too heavy focus on the 1970s/1980s stars is, in my opinion, a big part of what killed the Legends line in the first place. I'm not denying the importance of the 1970s/1980s stars, but I honestly think the Monday Night Wars era is where Mattel's primary focus should be for maximizing sales and interest in their Legends/Flashback figures.

Nope. The Horsemen is in the HoF and while not as the Horsemen all four wrestled in the WWE. But the main thing is they are in the HoF as the Horsemen so it works.

As a huge Horsemen mark, the only figure that stands out as "not accurate" is the Barry Windham. Only because Windham didnt have a ponytail/beard in his first run with the Horsemen but rather in his second run when Sid was around instead of Tully. That being said, after Mattel said they would like to do a Windham and I made a poll asking what look people wanted, the ponytail/beard look was a complete runaway....so Mattel actually listened to all of us because that's the look we wanted. Other then the Flair sculpt, which I just simply dont like because of the smile and Ill use the DM head for a swap...I think the box set is perfect and for a ticket prices of $49.99 to $69.99, I think its a steal. I'm glad you mentioned that. I feel a little better about Mattel's decision to go with the ponytail/beard look for Windham knowing that it was what the majority of the fans wanted. I'm looking forward to better pics of the scan. As long as it looks like Windham, I'll ultimately be happy with it. I'm one the noobs that just got started collecting late last year, so getting all for figures for about half of what I would have had to pay for Tully or Arn in the secondary market is a huge win for me. I'm not crazy about either of the Flair scans I've seen so far. Both look "okay" to me, but neither is the home run that I think Mattel will eventually hit.

I still think the Jakks CS WOO! scan is the best Flair head to date. I plan on picking up the B48 Flair and putting that head on it. I do like that they went with longer hair on the box set Flair though. That was a nice touch.

I know people are excited, but I think this set is a pretty big gamble. The older fans, so the 35ish and over crowd, are going to try and tell me I'm crazy, and that's fine, but they're wrong imo. "It's the 4 Horsemen doe!" Doesn't mean that much in 2015. Especially when you consider they were an NWA/WCW faction. I'm a big huge WCW fan, but we're a dying breed. So even though WWE has kept the Horsemen legacy alive, it's not exactly prominent.
Then you have to look at your target demographic for these sets. They're going to be at least $50, which is a great pice, but it prices out most of the moms buying their kid a toy, and it's not aimed at them anyway, so there goes that consumer avenue. So if the production run isn't low, I think there stands a good chance these sit for awhile. If 10 sets of Horsemen show up at every Target, that's more supply than demand. If each store gets, say, three to five, then I say this can probable be successful. I'm honestly expecting this to end up discounted at some point, pending distribution.
Something like DX or the NWO would have sold better, 1000% imo. But neither group is in the HOF yet. The Horsemen might be the greatest faction ever and they're the most popular of any group available to put in a Hall of Fame pack. Bill got the go ahead to do it and he wanted to give us Windham and he made that happen. That's extremely awesome as a guy looking to finish off his Horsemen collection, but at the same time I want this kind of set to continue into the future. We're at a point that if it doesn't work, Mattel will just kill it. So in my mind, a ton is riding on this one box set. A Mega Powers set, an NWO set, a DX Wiseguyz set, Edge/Lita/Matt Hardy haha, just anything. So I'm personally hoping that Mattel plays it safe with production and we see these succeed so we can get more.
As for the Horsemen never being in WWE/WWF, not a big deal. As has been said, you have to think of WWE as WCW, ECW, AWA, WCCW and so on because they own those properties. As someone who saw the Legends line fail though, and specifically Elite 2-packs, I'm just very nervous about this whole deal, honestly. Pretty much my thoughts too, I worry for Tito as well, though the Jakks one that warmed was the brown and black version. I think the Horsemen set is a little less risky though because there's not too much deco or cloth items included, I would guess the Legends 2 packs cost a bit more to make.

I'm very pleased with the concept. I think it will sell well at the $50 price point if target cooperates and if mattel doesn't overproduce these. Going forward I think it might be wise to cut future elite multi-packs to three figures or even two if many accessories are needed. I would love less straight re-paints and more different body molds and head sculpts. More paint deco, origional accessories, and better quality control for paint apps. If target can prove that they can sell elite legends multipacks then other retailers may want to purchase them too. Maybe Amazon or some other worldwide distributors will see it worthwhile. I think they could see even more value in it when Bill rolls out the nwo and some other popular teams/stables

Bill said Target sets the price, but they are suggesting around $50....which for 4 Elites would be a steal. I'm sure Target will make it $80, though, because they have the highest figure prices of any retail store, to my knowledge. I might be Kmart and they refuse to price match too They price matched my DM Hogan, because I said I'd just drive a mile down the road and get it from there, so they did it. I guess I got lucky lol

I do think that Mattel needs to tread carefully. They have done well improving the sales/popularity of their Legends figures via Flashbacks, but if they start doing too many 70s/80s guys it will kill it again. Like Punkisnotdead said, while the Horsemen is without doubt a deserving pack, I'm not sure if it was the strongest choice to launch a brand new "line" as such (i.e. Legends multipacks). While obviously the NWO aren't in the HOF yet, a 3-pack of Hall/Nash/Hogan would without question have been the safest choice to launch a Legends multipack series, considering their immense impact and popularity, and the fact those guys haven't had many Mattel figures made yet. Perhaps Mattel would have been better not restricting the multipack figures to just Hall Of Fame members?
Also while the Horsemen was a long-running team, Tully and Windham weren't members for much of that time, so aren't entirely relative to the popularity of the stable.
We'll just have to hope for the best, and also if Mattel is smart the next multipack should be from the Monday Night Wars era (again NWO would be the logical choice) to ensure strong sales, even if they have to go outside the HOF.

For some reason, the Horsemen seems to be the main go to set. Jakks had a Four Horsemen set (sort of). Mattel is doing one.
I'm just starting to collect these figures. I am going to pick this up even though, for me, my memories of the Horsemen started with Flair, Anderson, Pillman, and Canadian. That means my second viewing of the Horsemen came with Mongo.

Yeh for me the 4 Horsemen I remember best was Flair, Anderson, Mongo and Benoit, with Woman and Debra alongside. Windham/Tully was way before my time. Incidentally I would love figures of Mongo, Woman and Debra (WCW pageant queen look, not WWF suited look), but sadly I can't see any of them happening. Mongo seems to be mostly remembered in a bad light (although personally I found him to be quite an entertaining character), Debra will most likely still be blacklisted by WWE for speaking up in the past about how Austin beat her, and Woman will most likely be blacklisted due to how she died (although personally I don't understand that thinking - she was not the perpetrator of the crimes, so why shouldn't her life/legacy be celebrated?) Oh and another side note I'm surprised I haven't seen mentioned, am I the only one who'd like a JJ Dillon figure? I mean personally I'd prefer a WCW executive version, but I accept that a 4 Horsemen manager version would be more likely to happen.

While I do fundamentally agree with punksnotdead 's post (I'm still getting used to the fact that I'm in the over 35 category and am now considered "old"), I see this boxset as a kind gesture to us - the dying breed of WCW fans My only beef (huh?) with the horsemen is that I don't recall Barry wearing red/black cowboy boots, but whatever. I'm certainly going to buy this set on eBay if one of my American hook-ups can't find it for me Hell I need two because Barry's boots are the right boots for Magnum T.A. too.
