I've fallen in love with the show, & was hoping there would already be a thread about it.
First thought: Pendleton Ward is a younger version of George R.R. Martin.

It's one of my favorite shows on TV at the moment. Along with Hannibal and Game of Thrones.
Funny how Adventure Time has more in common with those shows than one would think...

The whole show makes no sense, yet at the same time its watchable which s with my head. I had the same view initially. The show is designed in such a way, that many episodes resemble pioneer era animation pieces. Certain episodes are adventures that exist independently of the primary story-arc, but do not violate it. Those episodes showcase the characters & act as an experiment to see what sticks. Adventure Time had a narrative to begin with, but it wasn't developed from the outset in the traditional sense. Every episode expands your familiarity with the characters, but not every episode further the primary plot. It's like real life. We all have random adventures or periods that wouldn't be notable in our biographies, but do matter to those who like us. If you try to watch it as a typical television episodic, you won't get it. It's written to balance the parts that appeal to children, with the parts which appeal to the adults.

I haven't watched the show since like 2012, I enjoyed it then but only really watched it because it was the one of the only English shows available in Bosnia, and I had gotten bored of Bosnian current affairs. I may get back into it at some point, that and the Regular Show.

Regular Show>Adventure Time
They're both very 90's-esque, which is why they get their praise

I got a weird Billy and Mandy vibe and Fosters Home vibe which I first got as a child which is more then likely the reason I enjoy the show.

The world and character building on this show is amazing. It started as a fun/silly show that I enjoyed and it turned into one of the deepest series on TV, with one of the most tragic characters.
Not to mention those catchy songs. I can't tell you how often I get Bacon Pancakes stuck in my head.

Love Adventure Time. I think between Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gumball and Steven Universe, Cartoon Network is easily one of the best networks on television
