Washington Nationals baseball is back and the first game is on ESPN. I love it. I called the Nats team store to see if they finally got in Tanner Roark shirts or jerseys. The guy responded with "uhhhhhhh who?". I hung up. I don't need that kind of negativity in my life.

How dare they not know him? I had the same issue with Detwiler last year. I got my Detwiler shirt in 2013 when he started against the Rockies and got smoked. I went to two games last year and all I bought was a LaRoche shirt, which I now regret. I feel like their selection of players sucks. I remember back in 2011 and 2012 they had jerseys of guys like Bernadina, Clippard, Storen, Livo, Espinosa, etc. Nowadays I buy most of my Nats stuff from the Target stores around Northern VA.

not gonna lie....for the first time since i began liking baseball/the yankees, it's hit me that Derek Jeter is no longer an active part of the team. it truly is the end of the era. it was just a holy crap moment.
but its time to move on, theres a new group, i still love the team anyway and despite the embarassment of yesterday im looking forward to a fun baseball season

I find myself wishing I still cared about baseball as much as I used to. I can't really put my waning interest in words or explain why. But I really want to blame Bud Selig. But for the last decade, every year i care just a little less than I did the year before.

not even a shot...but do you think its because your team hasnt given you a reason to care?
i dont know a ton about the Braves besides the legends. and what i read here....but from what it seems like that they just make stupid decisions, have zero faith in their own organization and have not been able to really "break through" in the last 10 years or so. i know they've made the playoffs a few times but they always felt like the lucky team that just got in but was easily dispatched

I'm sure them not being serious contenders plays a part in it. Though I was very passionate all through the 80's when they were perennial doormats. It's really just a lack of interest in the sport itself. I don't know what it is. If it's the lack of intriguing characters or personalities, the fact that most of the players seem to be void of passion, or if I have just changed. I will watch any NFL game still. Doesn't matter who it is. Not like the falcons have ever given me a reason to care. It makes me sad because I grew up loving baseball. But it feels like it's not the same game that it used to be for some reason. The excitement and intrigue isn't there nearly as much as it used to be.

I am very much like TRW, in that I once loved this sport, but don't care that much anymore. I loved watching baseball in the late 80's before the Braves were good, I was a Cubs fan (Sandburg, Dawson, Grace, Sutcliff) during that time. I hardly even bother watching anymore. I don't know most all stars year from year, and barely watch any world series games yet I will watch the Jaguars play the Titans on a Thursday Night just to see a rookie QB or some other young player.
I was once a huge fan, not just the Braves, I knew everyone. I would watch the Braves play every night as a kid on up to around 2000 maybe. The sport just doesn't interest me anymore. It is below NFL, College Football, NBA, Golf, and even Nascar probably. Also like TRW, it makes me sad to think how much I once loved it and to think how far the sport has fallen. Think before my time when Baseball was king, and the biggest sport in the country by far. Opening day was huge, it just all seems like nostalgia now.

Im not super into baseball this year because my personal life is a mess and I hate myself Anyways, Braves with the trade of the offseason, if this was a fantasy league I would drop a +99 in the favor of the Braves. Why did u sign Markakis guys, even though hes gonna be arguably their best hitter besides Freeman? Masharo Tanaka is gonna need TJ, one game doesnt dictate everything but they are just pushing the envelope. Rick Porcello better be a #2 for 20 ing million a year Red Sox might have the best offense in ALL of baseball this year. I live die breath Boston baseball but Andrew McCutchen is my favorite player....by far. I never did my predictions: Sox, White Sox, Angels Mariners, Tigers Homer pick: Sox acquire an ace and win the World Series Non homer pick: Angels win the AL Washington, St Louis, LA Pittsburgh, Miami Nationals win it all Kris Bryant/who knows Mike Trout/Andrew McCutchen King Felix/Kershaw

Yankees should have gotten Tanaka the Tommy John last July. Even if he doesn't tear it, it's stupid to send him out there pitching at less than 100% with him intentionally not maxing out to protect the elbow. That's just going to lead to location issues, and he will probably hurt his shoulder trying to protect the elbow, and then he'll really be done.
The way MLB uses pitchers is stupid. This is why Japanese pitchers come to America and burn out so fast. In Japan, you pitch on the same day every week. So let's say Tanaka pitches every Saturday in Japan, that means he's got 6 days in between starts, excluding his bullpen. SO let's now bring him to America and ask him to pitch on 4 days rest regularly, not to mention his bullpen.
People don't realize that after you pitch, you need some days to have the elbow ligament rest. So not only is Tanaka pitching on the least amount of rest on a scheduled basis in America, but he's also having to throw bullpens too.
MLB needs to go to a 6 man rotation. Who cares about making 35 starts? Let's say Tanaka pitched every Saturday in America and only make 26 starts? If he was 100% healthy, he'd probably win 20 of them, which is better than what we will get out of a less than 100% Tanaka. And he probably won't even last the season.
