Yankees should have gotten Tanaka the Tommy John last July. Even if he doesn't tear it, it's stupid to send him out there pitching at less than 100% with him intentionally not maxing out to protect the elbow. That's just going to lead to location issues, and he will probably hurt his shoulder trying to protect the elbow, and then he'll really be done. The way MLB uses pitchers is stupid. This is why Japanese pitchers come to America and burn out so fast. In Japan, you pitch on the same day every week. So let's say Tanaka pitches every Saturday in Japan, that means he's got 6 days in between starts, excluding his bullpen. SO let's now bring him to America and ask him to pitch on 4 days rest regularly, not to mention his bullpen. People don't realize that after you pitch, you need some days to have the elbow ligament rest. So not only is Tanaka pitching on the least amount of rest on a scheduled basis in America, but he's also having to throw bullpens too. MLB needs to go to a 6 man rotation. Who cares about making 35 starts? Let's say Tanaka pitched every Saturday in America and only make 26 starts? If he was 100% healthy, he'd probably win 20 of them, which is better than what we will get out of a less than 100% Tanaka. And he probably won't even last the season. This is a really good idea. I think the biggest, maybe only, problem would be that the 6th starter would be probably subpar and/or not ready for the show. For example, the Tigers number six would be Kyle Ryan. He, while passable, is someone who if he gets called up I'd want as a long relief guy. It'd be much harder to find another starter, especially for a team like Houston whose starting pitching is already iffy at best. But for the players? Fantastic idea. I love the Tigers. I love baseball.

I love baseball. I agree, it would be harder for every team to find a quality 6th man, but I think that with everyone else having so much rest, your 1-4 would be better for longer. Let's look at it this way. Due to having to pitch so much over the last however many years, at age 34, CC Sabathia is pretty much done. If he had been going on 6 days rest for his career instead of the heavywork load, especially in 2008 when I think he made 7 starts in a row on 3 days rest to get the Brewers into the Playoffs.....maybe his body wouldn't be so beat. I just find it alarming how many pitchers are having Tommy John Surgery these days....this is as bad as it's ever been. Something needs to be done so that guys are not blowing their arms out at such a high rate.

Something needs to be done so that guys are not blowing their arms out at such a high rate. That's true. Even a guy like Verlander who's had such a high work load for what'll be year number nine I believe has finally taken a step back. And Joel Hanrahan needing another TJ surgery. These pitchers are getting overworked even from a young age with stuff like travel ball and often no real pitch limits.

Minnesota Twins have had 14 consecutive scoreless innings against the Tigers. Score is 9-0 now and I am quite pleased with how well the Tigers are looking.

If the Dodgers beat the Yankees in the World Series, I will buy a Hyun Jin Ryu shirt. You promise?... But, what if the Yankees beat the Dodgers in the world series? Are you gonna buy a Tanaka Jersey? I will buy a Clayton Kershaw shirt to wipe away my tears of dejection and anguish

If we could not get swept by the Reds to start the season, that'd be great.

Looking like the first rain delay today in Detroit, bummer because I'd really like them to finish off this series with all the momentum they currently have.

hell yeah A-Rod
and of course the Yankees offense is as anemic as ever and CC continues to suck hard for one friggin' inning and pretty much kills the team dead in said inning

For anyone watching the Yankees-Sox game on WPIX, is the scoreboard cut off for you as well? I just had my neighbor check at their house too and it was as well.
