So I was talking to one of my cousins about how we used to collect all sorts of action figures not just wrestling, and what our favorites were. This was when Hasbros were everywhere. It made me think about how many people used to have wrestling figures that don't collect anymore. This ultimately led to me wondering how everyone else got started collecting...
I collected like a beast when I was a kid up until probably age 13 or so. I never got rid of my favorites however, whether they were wrestling, marvel, spawn, etc. Many people know this but I'm a die hard Ultimate Warrior fan so I obviously kept his. When jakks Classic superstars came out and I found out that he would be in it, I sporadically would hop on eBay and buy simply UW figs. Around age 19 or so, I went through a very brief yet obsessive phase where I bought other wrestlers as well. This eventually faded away as do most of my fads but I always kept on top of the UW figs. This past year I was at my local wal Mart and found e30 LOD and Luger on the shelf. I had to buy them for some reason and since then I have been non stop searching for all of the missed Mattel figures that I missed out on that I MUST have. This hobby is like a drug haha. Needless to say my list of must haves is down to around 10 and it will be straight pre orders from here on out, but this time the fad won't go away!
Sorry for the long story, but I'd love to hear other stories of people's collecting history!

elite 11 punk. I've always loved wrestling and have collected hasbro for years now.. but once I saw that figure, I just sort of became more hooked on it.

Other half bought me an e31 Kane this last Christmas. She knew I liked wrestling and knew I liked Kane. Never expressed any interest in collecting though, never even thought about it. She regrets it now though

For me, collecting started when my grandparents bought me a Marvel Wolverine figure when I was around 6 or 7. I had lots of toys before that but I never wanted to get the rest of the toys in the series until I got that figure. I ended up getting the Juggernaut in that series next, which had me start collecting Juggernaut figures. I currently own all Marvel Juggernaut action figures except for a few from the 90's. That's what started me collecting toys. For wrestling, I never started collecting WWE until 2013. I had been watching wrestling for a while and got some jakks figures before that but I never bought more due to the poor quality. Therefore didn't find out about the awesome new Mattel figures until 2013.

I've always bought WWE figures on and off since I was a little kid and begged my mom to buy me a crapload of discounted LJN figures at a store I think was called Woolworth's? They were like a buck or 2 a piece I remember getting both Andre's and a bunch of others.

I love wrestling
I love figures
While I had a few Hasbros, Toybiz WCW and Jakks BCAs, I didnt really consider myself a collector until Jakks came out with Ruthless Agression figures. I bought John Cena from the 1st series and I was hooked.

Originally I was a kid who loved toys and wrestling.
Recently.. DM Flair sucked me back in.
Speaking of which.. I need the red Flair basic. Someone hit me up.
