I was just thinking about this the other day. I noticed that some Channels now give you the option to just buy the shows directly from them via an app of some kind. And with streaming services you can now watch almost any tv show at the click of a button, so do you still have cable or a dish at this point?
Personally I've never had either cable or a dish. I don't really watch much tv as it is so I don't see the appeal to paying a monthly fee to not watch tv. I have heard some co workers talking about how they have gotten rid of cable because of certain streaming websites.
It just makes me think if one day Cable/Dish tv will be phased out.

I got rid of cable over a year ago and don't miss it at all.
I can still watch most things on my Hulu Plus and Netflix accounts.

I haven't watched standard TV now for probably 6 or 7 years. I watch what I want, when I want, where I want, how I want. I couldn't go back to the old way now.
My parents pay £60+ a month for Sky, it's ridiculous.

we still have cable but I don't watch as much TV as I used to. Mostly just going to bed. I use my girlfriends netflix sometimes but I don't think it's as great as everybody says. There's a lot of shows I wish were on there that aren't and the movie selection is garbage. I mostly just use Youtube or search until I find episodes of shows i want to watch.

I have cable although I hardly watch it. Movies and TV shows just get watched on Netflix. Still, it's something that even though it's not used much, I refuse to cancel it.

I recently was forced to switch from directv to Comcast because of where I was moving to. I don't mind cable, but Comcast charges extra for mlb network which is HOT DIRTY STINKY DOG crap.

I would vote for cable. When we had a satellite dish when I was younger, everytime it would rain or whatever, it would go out. I don't know if they still do this or not but that's me experience. Also we moved from there to a apartment complex with a $300 satellite deposit so we're more less forced to use cable at the point lol.

Consumers demand control over when and where they consume media, which is why we've seen the media climate change more rapidly in the last decade than ever before. But, cable subscriptions are here to say for the unforeseeable future. I think what we'll see more of is broadcast companies implementing streaming services to work in concert with their cable channel. I believe the more interesting question is how advertising will adapt to the popularity of streaming services. I think that has more weight on the longevity of cable subscriptions than anything else.
I want to live the no-cable life. My fiancee, however, likes having a cable subscription, and I admit it's nice for sports.

Cable is a joke. They constantly advertise for shows on channels that aren't included in your cable package

I have Comcast cable but I'm slowly trying to transition to online only TV. See if it can happen or not. Meh.

Only two things keep me with Cable, Football, and my wife's tv viewing habits. I could get by cutting the cord, but she couldn't. I still don't find streaming options reliable enough for my tastes yet either.

I wish. My cable bill through xfinity and the x1 platform is $240 a month. It is insane.

I'm one of those cable cutters. Though it's starting to get just as expensive with the amount of streaming services available.

I keep hearing about cable cutters but no one I know has done it. I looked into but I can't get everything I want online. I prefer cable but the price has gotten way out of hand. Hopefully they'll smarten up and start lowering prices to compete with streaming services. And I don't want to be forced to pay for sports channels I don't want. Cable is a joke. They constantly advertise for shows on channels that aren't included in your cable package Cable companies don't advertise specific shows, channels advertise them.

Cable is literally one of the biggest ripoffs in recorded history.
What some people pay per month just to watch television is out of control.

Direc-TV mainly for ESPN, USA to watch Raw, and kids channels for my kiddos.
