The Freebirds back in the day.
The Shield were absolutely fantastic though in the modern era.

I really dont understand how The Shield can even be mentioned. They're all great talents and seperately they've done great stuff but as a unit? They were the definition of mediocre. You gave 1 guy the US Title which he rarely defended it and the other two were tag champs at one of the lowest points in the industry for tag teams. Freebirds and Von Erichs are hands down the top 2 names because they revolutionized 6 man tag wrestling. Im discrediting teams like Hardys cause they were simply a tag team with a manager. If you were to include managers then Road Warriors and Ellering would be #1 and Cornette and the Midnight Express would be a close 2nd Totally fair to put the Freebirds and Von Erichs there. But the Shield stuff is blasphemy. Yea, Dean Ambrose's US Title run was crap but that was more the booking's fault than his. As for the Tag Team Titles, even if the division was stacked they more than likely would have won the belts because they were one of the most over acts in the company. They consistently stole the show with excellent six man tag matches. Whether it was classics against Evolution or the Wyatt Family, or against thrown together teams, they never failed to deliver. Again, saying those other trios are ahead of them is totally fine, but to say the SHield should not even be mentioned is absurd to me. I enjoyed The Shield angle/team but I just dont think they did enough to garner being listed as one of if not the greatest of all times. Brian Pillman was one of the best pure ring workers, had great singles matches and great tag matches but outside of Brick, I dont think anyone would list him as one of the all time greats. Shield was awesome but they didnt do "enough" to me to garnish the GOAT title.
