Aww, I love Jon Snow. I even have a Funko Pop of him. He's always been too whiney to me. Sure he is loyal to his word, but he let's it rule him. He has potential to be a badass, but until recently, I hadn't seen it. I think part of it is that in the books, Jon is only like 15 years old so a lot of the stuff they take from the book is something a teenager is doing.

Barristan this is the first change from show to books that really bothered me. I've always supported or at least understood the show's changes, but this one was lame. He never got to show how much of a don he is, whereas in the books he dons it repeatedly. Also Jon is the best character in the show. Stannis is great too. Dany sucks.

I have a feeling that his death was pretty monumental in what will happen moving forward. Dany has been spiraling downward for episodes on end. I can see this being her breaking point.

So we get one of the most heartwarming scenes we've ever seen in this show, only for Barristan to be brutally murdered twenty minutes later. Can't we enjoy ourselves for one night?
At this point I'm just waiting for Dany to bust out the dragons and lay waste to the Sons of Harpy. Sadly I don't see her being able to control her dragons for quite some time, maybe not until Bran shows up again? I just miss season three Dany.
Jamie and Bronn were the highlight of this episode, I'm looking forward to more of their stuff in Dorne.
I'm intrigued by Mel echoing Ygritte, hopefully they follow up on that before her and Stannis march to Winterfell.

Best character on the show for me right now is Arya, which makes it sucky that she's only appearing on a bi-weekly basis. I'm incredibly interested in seeing where the faceless man stuff ends up, especially with her not wanting to throw away Needle in the last episode. I had a feeling they were going to kill off Barristan once they showed that really nice scene with Daenerys, since they always do stuff like that. I just hope Grey Worm lives through his wounds, because his and that girls' relationship is one of my other favorite things on the show.
Last episode was good, and just reinforced the fact that Stannis is who I definitely think is the best person to be on the iron throne right now. Tommen doesn't have the spine for it and seemingly the only other option is Daenerys, and that just isn't going well at the moment. I do like how Cersei is finding power in one form or another and using her son to her advantage, but I do hope it all backfires on her eventually. Jon Snow's stupid face during the scene with Melisandre made me laugh really hard, but I'm liking his character a bit more now.
Can't wait for more Arya and Brienne/Podrick in future episodes and the moment Tyrion and Daenerys meet.

Steady episode this week. Not much tension or drama until the last sequence with Tyrion and Jorah. Don't understand why Dany is marrying the guy from Trollied. Loving Stannis this season.

In the books her decision is more considered. Here it was rash and foolish, which in fairness is in line with her character imo.

I was pretty let down in how the Sand Snakes vs. Jamie and Bronn fight came across. Choreography felt off.

This season has been the weakest that the show has been so far for me. That end scene was ed up though. Screw Misfits guy!

The only thing I'm really disappointed in is how lame I find the Sand Snakes. I was under the impression that they were cool in the books (?) but on the show all they are to me are the people who knew they needed to get to Myrcella before the Lannisters and couldn't, despite the fact they knew exactly where Myrcella was and were already there. Jamie and Bronn had to take a boat to get Dorne. And they literally got to Myrcella first. Unless it's part of some broader plan that has to be the most incompetence ever seen in Game of Thrones.
Oberyn they are not.

Apparently there is considerable fury over last nights episode and the end sequence.....
Speaking of Sansa I am enjoying how the show is diverging from the books. At least now I dunno what to expect in some areas. Also Littlefinger is one sneaky f*cker.
and yeah the Snakes vs Jamie/Bronn fight was crap.

I don't get the outrage any time there is a rape in a movie or tv show. It was portrayed in an awful, and heinous fashion. Even though it isn't our actual history, those situations were extremely commen in our own history, and in some parts of the world still are. So here we have an awful villain raping a sympathetic character. I sort of understood where the outrage came from with the Jamie and Cercei scene with Joffrey, but this is just dumb. It's not like they were joking about it or making it lighthearted. It was meant to be an awful, dreadful scene that made you want to kill Ramsay. It worked and was done well. If anything they should be pointing at it and saying, see this is accurate! This is why we must work to stop rape! Morons.

Also despite the fact it was being portrayed as awful for Sansa? She is married to the Bastard Bolton this was their wedding night and she wasn't protesting. She knew that this vile act was on the horizon......Now it was obvious she didn't want to be a part of this but as you say it was worked well to make us hate the Boltons even more. I hope the show goes "off book" now and Stannis kills the crap outta the Bolton's....since I presume Winterfell will be the "big battle" this season?

The books are not well paced at all and contain heaps of unanswered questions.....Taking a detour is no harm at all
