www.gerweck.net/2015/04/15/ricky-steamboat-confirms-the-wwe-status-of-his-son-richie-steamboat/Start the video at 2:22 – In the video above, WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat confirms the status of his son Richie Steamboat. There has been a lot of speculation on Richie’s status after he was taken out of action following a back surgery a few years ago. Ricky confirms that Richie will not be able to wrestle anymore. Ricky noted that Richie, a former FCW Champion, injured 4 discs in his back and has had surgery but won’t be able to follow in his footsteps. Ricky added that his son “gets it” and has the look for the business. Ricky also discusses the WWE World Heavyweight Title picture coming out of WrestleMania 31 and breakout talents that have came from NXT.

That blows, i really liked Richie and Rollins the most when NXT first became the full time developmental.

I had high hopes for this kid. Shame he didn't make it, but at least he can say he tried.

IMO, there's nothing worse than a guy who clearly wants to be in wrestling & is hungry for it, but can't due to injury. Steamboat is in the same category as Graves now.

The blows big time. Richie was one of my favorite guys in FCW/NXT.

Ricky was one of the all time best in ring performers and Richie a lot of times was a spitting image of his dad. With seasoning Richie could have been "that guy" that we all talk about being one of if not the greats of all time. Sadly, its been taken away from him. I hope he doesnt just call it quits and maybe finds a job as an announcer or manager or something.

Wasnt it just a couple of weeks ago that Richie tweeted that he wasnt done? If I remember that correctly, I would say hold off on the pity till he officially confirms it. Could be "dad wants him to retire."

He was pretty damn talented. It's always sad to hear another wrestler go down because of injury.
