Before he was Mr. Wrestlemania, Shawn Michaels was breaking hearts in the World Wrestling Federation. Mattel’s Ringside Collectibles Exclusive Shawn Michaels claims to be Too Sexy For This Crowd. Eat your hearts out other figures, this one is Too Great To Not Be In Your Collection.
Ring Attire
Shawn Michaels attire is from Wrestlemania VIII when he faced off against Tito Santana aka El Matador. Shawn wore this attire throughout 1992 when he had Sensational Sherri by his side. Shawn is wearing white pants draped in red blotches with black tiger stripes. Wrist tape, gloves, knee pads, and boots complete his ensemble. The only thing missing from his gear is that his gloves had red on his palms during this 'Mania encounter.
The real awesomeness of this figure is the entrance jacket. Mattel went all out with this thing. From the chains dangling to the heart dripping black hearts this is my favorite and dare I say the best entrance jacket produced in Mattel's WWE Elite line.
Head Scan
When were mullets cool? Always. Shawn is rocking his mullet of the times as the earrings he wore to the ring dangle from his ears. Equipped with a cocky smirk on his face this is a very nice Shawn Michaels scan. There were a few issues I noticed with the sculpt. Although I display my collection with all accessories, I'm not a fan of the noticeable sunglasses entrance points. (Not nearly as bad as Defining Moments Hulk Hogan when you remove his hand band.) This is a small nuance, but it takes a bit away from the sculpt without the sunglasses on. Speaking of the sunglasses, mine sit slightly off center on his head.
Too Great To Not Be In Your Collection
Ric Flair stated in the rare 1992 promo in the video above, "They say he is the man who is going to own it all. It's his destiny." Ric was right as Shawn Michaels proved to be one of the greatest superstars of all-time. It all started with a kick through the Barbershop window that ended The Rockers.
This figure is from the beginnings of his solo run when Sensational Sherri still screeched his theme song. Don't be fooled into thinking his tattoo is missing from his arm. The time period this figure is based on was BT. (Before Tattoo) The entrance jacket is a thing of beauty and a spectacular creation by Mattel. From the smirk on his face to the ring attire, the minor flaws with the sunglasses are just that minor. Mattel's Ringside Exclusive Shawn Michaels has been inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Figure Review.
