I think its really frustrating Mattel keep pumping out characters that we already have instead of using those spots for wrestlers we havent got. Mattel should be releasing new characters because we dont know how long they will be under contract for. While Mattel waste their time giving us loads of Kanes for example that could easily wait, they should be getting to characters who are for lack of a better term "release risk" characters that have been under the WWE legends contract and have since had their contracts terminated. I mean, we dont really need the upcoming DDP figure, why not give us a character that hasn't been released? Variations of characters that we already have can wait unless its the top names such as HBK etc. I really think Mattel are ripping us off in this aspect and as a collector I find it very frustrating. Take Rhyno for example, Mattel have a chance to get to do him right away but will probably wait and wait give us another Kane and then by the time they get around to Rhyno maybe he will be released from his contract and bang their goes another character we could have had. Urrrghh it really grinds my gears.

If the new DDP has a new SERIOUS headscan - like so many of us have been wanting for years - then IMO we definetely DO need that.
However if Mattel cheaps out and just gives us yet another smiling DDP, then I completely agree that would be pointless.

I understand the OP's point but it seems like you forgot Mattel has been pumping out a lot of 1st time of the line figures this past year. (JYD, Doink, Earthquake, N.A.O) to name a few. Plus the legends DDP was an online exclusive so it'll be nice to see him at retail stores. So I'll consider this "1st time at retail" lol. AND.... Aren't we getting a new face next series? (Dean Malenko)

Idk about DDP, they could put out another 10 figures of him and I wouldn't mind. I think it might be a budget issue because perhaps new heads require tooling costs and it's just cheaper to rerelease the parts they've already got. In Rhyno's case, I think the Sweet T basic body would work. I do agree with the sentiment though, and think it's about time for a stand alone flashback line. MDT seem to understand what works and what doesn't by now, hopefully news drops at SDCC. I mean, Bill said many Stings are coming this year, and I don't see any scheduled releases outside of the DM and the rumoured basic.

DDP isn't the greatest example. A lot of people didn't get a chance to buy him since he was a mattycollector piece.
I'm happy to get multiple issues of legends. I'd say the cuts should come from current roster guys. I mean how many Sheamus, Del Rios, Ryder's, Cenas, Zigglers, etc. do we need?
Bring on Dallas!

Yea most people who WANT DDP are people who dont have the Legends Matty one. I could care less about him, I agree with most of the OP. Another some what wasted spot. They couldve easily did DDP 2 years from now..he aint going anywhere in terms of a Legends deal. After Doink, Quake , this is a letdown FB wise.

They are in the business of making money. Kane makes them money. So does Cena and the rest of the "same old" guys. They make money. Why would Mattel not want to make money?

I am glad that Mattel made a new DDP. His other Mattel figure kinda sucked. But, if the new DDP has long hair, I won't buy it and I will feel that it's a waste if an Elite spot.

It's possible they wanted to pump one more DDP out before his contract ended. I think that's why we are getting Tito and Windham this year as well.

I think randy orton's elites are a bigger waste. His figures always look the same. From his first elite to his last one their is no difference.
We need booker t and stevie ray, vampiro and I hope they make the stieners.

I have the Legends DDP and I'll be buying his E36 figure for MOC. And I'm really excited about it. And I also thought Rhyno wasn't under a contract. But I don't know that for sure.
You might have a better case if you had a list of names under contract who don't alre have a figure. Instead, you said we don't need a DDP but you said they make too many Kane's and you want a Rhyno figure right now.

I bet that new DDP figure is gonna have the WWE Classic Tag Title with it too.
He held those belts in 2001 with Kanyon, and I could see Mattel putting that Classic Tag Title with that DDP figure just to make sure people buy it.

The legends DDP came out way before I started collecting and in a perfect world I would be able to pick him up at a reasonable price in the UK but it just simply isn't possible.
I hardly think one figure of a person is enough to say 'we don't need anymore' when others get 5 or more in short succession.
Ridiculous.
Id very much like to add a DDP to my collection and e36 represents the only realistic way of doing this.
So yeah, we do need another DDP.

Errr he was ONLY an online exclusive and was never available at mass retail ...
I really don't understand the hate at all ?
I'm hoping for a WCW DDP, but I'll more than likely add it to my collection no matter what "era" it's based off of.
Now, Goldust needs to be a debut flashback, instead of the same old current attires that they've been pumping out lately.
