I'm probably remembering wrong, but didn't Bill or someone elude to the fact that those extra points of articulation on such small parts on the women's wrists, knees and ankles really push the tolerances for quality control? I know Shapeways is a totally different beast altogether, but they won't let you create and print a model with a hinge or a ball joint if the pieces are too small because they'd easily break.
So yeah, cost like everyone else has speculated, but that's sort of explaining it with a little more detail.

Even so, but shouldn't they have elite articulation? The only thing they don't have is the extra knee articulation anyways... This is false. "Elite" figures of females lack double knees, wrist hinges, and ankle tilts. That is six points of articulation you are screwed out of when buying an "elite" of a woman. Hell, basic males have wrist hinges, so both the basics and elites lacking them is pretty ridiculous.

I have a feeling this thread is going to get ugly. I'm in before the lock.

I'd like a few flashbacks like Alundra Blayze and Bull Nakano. Totally buying those. With classic Women's championship please.

I really like that Divas are a Basic/Elite hybrid and kept mainly in the Basic line... I'm mainly an Elite collector, but have collected every Diva Mattel has made so far. I don't mind them occasionally in the Elite line, but they should either be a Flashback or have some cool accessory or belt to make it worthwhile.

If they weren't in the Elite line, then it would be another Rey, Orton, Big Show, or Cena. So by those standards I personally don't consider them a waste. Those belts have been nice, too. Only Diva that felt like a waste was AJ. They claimed budget and yet I'm staring at the overlap of CM Punk's tattoos, even colorless, and realizing it took multiple passes to do it. So some black pinstripes couldn't sway me to think that particular figure should've been $20.

Or you can look at it as 5 extra POA when buying a basic diva. Basic figures do get the torso joint, cutv thighs and hip articulation the basic divas get. As for the wrist argument. Diva figures forearms are to thin. The wrist pins would be so thin they would snap in half easily. So that is an easy decision not to add them.

That's false too. I compared Paige to Hellcat from Hasbro and Hellcat's arms are smaller and include hinges. GI Joe figures in a smaller scale have them too.
Divas may be a better value as basics, but they are undoubtedly lesser value as elites. So they get accessories, so what? The male elites get accessories and the extra articulation. There's really no excuse unless you're just gonna flat out say "it's a lesser value and we don't care, deal with it."

There's really no excuse unless you're just gonna flat out say "it's a lesser value and we don't care, deal with it." Just because Hasbro does it doesn't mean it is sturdy. Look at DCD/DCC their pins are thicker than Mattel's figure yet their pins snap out of package because they use crappier plastic on them. And back to Hasbro I always felt the really articulated Marvel Universe and Star Wars were very frail and fragile. I only let our daughter play with the 5 POA SW when she was younger. Hell even now with the exception of MU (which also look to be cutting back on some articulation points) the 3.75" Marvel movie and Star Wars lines have gone back to 5 POA. And yes my 6" Slave girl Leia has hinged wrists, but I don't dare move them because she felt so fragile. The thinner the part the easier it is to break.

Well lucky for you DCC have completely switched to stronger plastic.
My Joe's and Legends with tiny pegs have never broken on me. I've owned multiple male Mattel figures with broken wrist pegs.

Not really. Series 2 Arrow supposedly has the new stronger plastic and his right elbow snapped off not 20 seconds after opening it up.

I wouldn't have expected that to be part of the new wave of production since it was solicited way back in October.

It was an olive green. But it was still a hard plastic that when it snapped was that off white colored plastic. Think what a WWE basic, DCUC or ML torso piece looks if you break off one of the connector tabs or holes on the inside. It is very frustrating that after 15 plus years they finally decide to correct/change that clear brittle plastic and my first figure still breaks out of the package. Pretty sure they said this was the first or second line of figures with the new plastic. Here the online store had me destroy the figure and send them a pic before they shipped out the replacement. You can see the plastic color on the hip stems.

Hm, that actually sounds a lot like the old pegs to me. I had a Long Halloween Bats take a dive off the shelf and the same thing happened with the color change.
I know my animated Joker compared to the first run animated Batman are like figures from two different companies. Did you message DCC about it? They're good about replacements lately.
ANYWAY I have no reason to think that if Mattel used the same plastic they do now, they would have problems actually implementing the hinges in wrists across the line. There's so much precedent over the years that I find the whole "it's too small" excuse to be really questionable.

I don't give it much thought one way or another. There's been what? Six Elite divas in 38 waves of six figures each? That's 1 diva for every 37 males. It's a non issue.

As long as we get Divas I could care less about the less articulation

For some reason, people think we'd get a flashback Jericho or Elite Outsiders instead of a Diva.

I don't know and I don't care. Personally I think that divas are a waste of space in the Elite line. Misogynist alert lol
