I don't know if this has been discussed or not but is there a reason why we don't get televised events from MSG anymore? For the last few years it has been used for house shows only the last time I believe it was on TV was a November Raw in 2009.
I remember they used to hype the MSG shows and make a huge deal out of them along with big matches and advertising so it's strange that the arena is just house show restricted now and I also used to love the small entrance tunnel that was used because it was so unique and stood out from the rest of the stages.
Has it ever been revealed why its not used for television anymore?

I'm not sure why but I miss it. We had the 2009 Raw and the 2011 Survivor Series, but since then, nothing. It sucks.

I hear MSG is expensive to run. That could be a part of it too?

I wish i could say I've been to a show there but i sadly have not...one of the many reasons i hope they go back soon.

They run like 3 house shows there a year. Apparently running a TV show there is too much. Even a sell out they would lose money. They could always raise prices. I am sure NY diehards would go for a RAW for a little extra money but then again I am not sure how much they would have to raise the prices.

No point in doing the shows without the cool entrance they always used

This is interesting info, good question by the OP. Thanks all for the responses.
I have been wondering this myself for a bit now as to why they do not do as much TV from MSG any longer.
If it is still a concept, I would love to see the WWE do "Old School" Raw once a year from MSG.

I hear MSG is expensive to run. That could be a part of it too? But they still do house shows in it and surely they would make more money televising it to get tv ratings and stuff.

One main reason for the lack of televised events at Madison Square Garden is due to the cost of renting the arena. The WWE prefers to work in buildings where they know it is cheap to rent and break even. With the Barclays Center in Downtown Brooklyn, the Barclays Center is becoming of the most popular arenas in the United States. Like The Garden, the Barclays Center is in a area that is easy to get to. At one billion dollars for the 2011-2013 renovations, I am sure Cablevision and the Dolan family would want to recoup the cost of renovating.

Isn't it really small? I'm guessing because they can sell more tickets elsewhere.

The Garden is plenty large enough, but as previously mentioned, I think it's too expensive to run. The one thing I wonder, though, is whether or not it costs more money to broadcast a live show there? Again, as mentioned previously, they run several house shows there a year. The only thing I can think of is the loss of seats on one side of the venue, because of the stage, all but eliminates the possibility of breaking even/turning a profit, whereas the standard house show set-up allows them to sell-out in the building in truer fashion.
I don't think WWE will ever stop running the Garden, there's too much history, but evidently it stopped making sense from a business standpoint to run it like they used to.
Plus, the Barclays Center draws a similar crowd for much less money.

Apparently it's extremely expensive for them to run TV out of that building. I don't know the exact reasons but it seemingly happened when they switched to HD. I miss it :/

I don't think WWE will ever stop running the Garden, there's too much history, but evidently it stopped making sense from a business standpoint to run it like they used to. The owners of Madison Square Garden were given a ten-year operating permit which expires in 2023. The City of New York seemingly wants The Garden to relocate so they can modernize Penn Station. Having been to Penn Station on various occasions, it is a bonafide dump. Even the area where they had Shotgun Saturday Night at.

I miss televised Garden stuff. I was at the infamous Raw in 97 when Austin finally stunned McMahon as well as Summerslam 98 and the feeling there both times was insane.
