HBK seemed to do a Hulk Hogan pose and then proceeded to mouth off into the camera, does anyone know what he was saying or getting at? Im guessing he was having a "go" at Hogan?

Im guessing he was having a "go" at Hogan? pretty much! well, first off, he was flipping off Nash like crazy. then it was pretty much him mocking Hogan with the posing, and basically telling him to bring it. I took it as him basically challenging Hogan - "You think you're the best?! You can't do better than me!!" I really wish they would've uploaded the Free For All and IYH Extra stuff with the PPV's as well. I always loved the interaction backstage after this IYH between Gorilla Monsoon and a pacing in the background British Bulldog: Monsoon : " It's official. Next month Shawn Michaels will defend the WWF Championship against the #1 contender, The British Bulldog!" Bulldog : "It's me?! Dirty rotten pervert Shawn Michaels!!" Monsoon: "What?!" Bulldog : "He wants to sleep with my wife!!" Monsoon : " WHAT??!!"

Thanks for clearing that up by the way.

One of WCW's catchphrases at the time was "Where the Big Boys Play" (which Austin lampooned in ECW) and one of the things that HBK said as he pointed at his own chest was, "You want a big boy to play with?"

HBK also did the Razor Ramon taunt too, pointing to himself and jumping a bit like Razor would do, and then did the Hogan pose.
I am sure a few F bombs were thrown because I remember watching it many times and trying to read his lips and the F word was used. He also threw his gum at Nash. I think he was just legit mad that his best friends were leaving for WCW and it was coming out then.

I made a topic on this before.
HBK was legit pissed his buddies were leaving for WCW. After the pin he says'
"F*ck you! F*ck you! F*ck you! Get the f*ck out of here!" While flicking off Nash.
Then he mocks Hogan, looks at the hard camera and says "you want a big boy to play with" in reference to the WCW "where the big boys play" tagline.

I was never 100% sure if he was legit shooting on Nash at the end there, or just doing some off-script promo work, since he came to the ring all pissed off too, and Diesel had turned on him the month before and attacked him several times, and they played up it basically being one friend betraying another.

HBK in 1996 was legit shooting.

He just spent a couple years putting over Razor and Diesel while they were IC and World champs, and they piss off and leave him with literally no one to work with. With Bret, Backlund, Diesel and Warrior gone in 96, Undertaker was the ONLY other former WWF champion. He got a similar raw deal that Bret got in 92 where no one was around to put him over while he was champ.

Shawn also put an unnecessary amount of pressure on himself in 1996 As well.
He thought he was the reason numbers were down for the wwf. They probably were to some extent, But he should've realized they were still pumping crap out in 1996 that carried over from a year prior and the nwo was WHITE hot.
HBK is in my top three favorites list and it just makes me wonder how things would've turned out for him of he hadn't flipped his lid so much.

Bret was gone. Hall was gone. Nash was gone. Kid was gone. Warrior was a face, so no go. Undertaker was a face, so no go. everyone else was a mid-carder or lower-tier upper level - Triple H, Goldust,Mankind,Farroq, Bradshaw, Bulldog, Owen, Austin. only credible threat was Vader. and they had to build him up first. on the other side of the coin, you had the red hot nWo, which made WCW the red hot promotion. there were many factors working against Shawn in his first reign.

Shawn isn't entirely blameless. His act worked well as a heel but he never clicked as a face with the majority of male viewers. He also squashed Vader's momentum and his constant threats to leave probably made things worse.

I much preferred '00s Michaels to '90s Michaels. There's no denying his talent, but he was an absolute a-hole back then. He was given the ball to run with in '96, and like it or not, he dropped it big time.

"only credible threat was Vader. and they had to build him up first."
and he really crap on that quickly. and if you believe shoot interviews/rumors, he refused to work with goldust, which wouldve made for an interesting feud. so yea, not everything was the situation there. mercifully bret and taker put over [helped get over] austin and mankind respectively to build the heel stock back up.
to be fair, shawn didnt do too bad for mankind either admittedly. they had a pretty solid match too, if memory serves.

Mind Games against Mankind is widely regarded as one of the best HBK and Mick Foley matches. Even with the cheap cop out finish, I still consider this my favorite HBK match ever

What rumor existed that HBK wouldn't work with Goldust? I saw HBK vs Goldust in a title vs title match in 96 at my first WWF show. I'm pretty sure they worked a lot together but it was just on the house shows.
