Excellent point. What really set The Shield apart from The Nexus is the former were already accustomed to the "WWE Style". The changed in developmental in 2012 really helped The Shield. Granted The Shield were byproducts of FCW, FCW as a whole was a detriment to the WWE. The FCW under the time The Nexus were there is living proof. The WWE learned their lesson with The Nexus. That is one of many reasons why The Shield were heavily protected upon their debut. I was more pointing out that if Nexus was booked like Shield it would have worked better for them. The comparison itself is two different worlds. After the whole Nexus ordeal, the WWE learned their lesson big time. The WWE couldn't afford to make The Shield be booked like The Nexus. The WWE's future was on the shoulders of Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns. The WWE has obviously made all three of them major players. Something the WWE didn't do with The Nexus. Had The Nexus been booked like The Shield, the main event scene would have been different come 2011. I wonder what kind of **** the WWE was on back in 2010. We all know The Nexus could have been a bigger deal. Once you see the affects of a poorly managed stable, you wouldn't want to make the same mistake again.

Hell, Wade Barrett tweeted this back in 2012:

Great moment. Had me on the edge of my seat. Too bad the follow up sucked.

Funnily enough, I found Wade Barrett more interesting then than he is now.

It was the best thing ever for like 2 weeks...
Then they f*cked it up.
I quit watching for several months out of protest.

That group had so much potential. It was a brand spanking new idea that hadn't been done before and all it fizzled down too was so John Cena can bury them all single handily. That was the time i despised Cena most.

I was at Summerslam 2010 when Edge, Morrison, Cena, R-truth, Daniel Bryan, Bret Hart faced Nexus in the main event.

WWE's mishandling of The Nexus still pisses me off to this day.

Jericho said in his book that Cena was both the one behind the idea of the Summerslam finish and that he was totally wrong in the idea. They were built so well only to fall so hard from August to October. The final nail in the coffin was Cena beating Barrett at TLC and dousing him with chairs. Many saw them as jobbers but collectively all 8 had/have talent that, if brought out in the correct way, would've shone. No one was gonna believe the dancing, air-guitar wielding redhead was a viable heel, but bring him out in sunglasses, black tights and lack of a smile and he's viable. Not to mention they buried the Undertaker at Bragging Rights and went nowhere with that storyline. Not to mention the NXT pros beat up the NXT season 2 rookies on their premiere episode and that was stupid too. Don't forget about the limo thing with Bret Hart. Actually, Bret Hart being involved in general was terrible.

Yeah it's crazy to think it was that long ago already. Feels like yesterday, I was 18 back then.

It is sad that it didn't really go anywhere.
All we really got were Bryan (awesome talent of course) and Barrett and while I really like him and he's won titles he should be much higher up on the card by now not losing nearly many of his matches..

One of the biggest if not THE biggest up the WWE had in the last 15 years or so... Crazy to think that it's already been 5 years!

The Kevstaaa I'm gonna move this one to the Classic Board man because the main board is for "current" stuff only if ya get me? I was excited by the Nexus. Then Cena was booked to obliterate them from the face of eternity......If they had won at Summerslam fan perception of them would've been different. The Owens situation shows that Cena can absorb losses and not be hurt.....he would not have been hurt here and if he had put up a heroic last stand only to be hobbled at the final step? he may have won over a few fans. Instead? DDT on Concrete.....Johnny ate his spinach and flattened the remaining members. Bah.

Man, I remember watching this soon after I got back into wrestling. I was so interested in what was going on.

The biggest flop in professional wrestling. It was as poorly handled as the Alliance. It could have been groundbreaking, but instead fizzled out into dross.
