Well, it has actually set in now. I'm going to have to leave my fiancée and be forced to marry slappyBut I think one of the biggest misconceptions of this whole debate was that if gay marriage was national then churches would be forced to perform ceremonies. It's completely wrong, the separation of church and state protects them from that. Slappi is a woman now so you didn't even have to wait for this to happen Damnit...

I get what you meant RybackV1. Yeah man. I'm totally not bashing this at all. I'm happy for the gay community and for our country. But we still have to understand that there's ALOT of work that needs to be done in our country until we can consider everyone "equals " this isn't the ultimate solution to the problem.

Definitely a good day in the direction of equality for America. I always have to laugh to, the main argument politicians use who are against it, is having to preserve the sacred right of marriage. There are countless cases of marriages where the two people do not love each other, where abuse is happening, where affairs are happening, and where so many end up getting divorced, yet letting gay people wed, that would tarnish it? It's just scary that people that want to preach how two men, or two women being married, will be the down fall of our society, are ever able to get into power, when in fact, it's politicians like them, that are more of a threat to our society than gay marriage ever will be. Hell I'd love to see the skeletons in the closets of these 'moral crusaders,' because they're usually the ones, with the worst secrets of them all.

What about the fact that marriage was created as a bargaining tool for families to marry off their children?

Ok, I knew there was something along those lines in it's creation, but wasn't sure enough to add that into the post.

I just realized too, Family Guy actually touched on the sad reality of how some people apposed to gay marriage. There are people that believe two straight people who don't even love each other have the right to be married, while two gay people, who truly love each other, don't.

Ok, I knew there was something along those lines in it's creation, but wasn't sure enough to add that into the post. Another argument I've that marriage tax breaks were created to make families more possible. Since gay people can't reproduce, they shouldn't have the same advantages. Even if we ignore the fact that adoption exists, does that mean barren women shouldn't be allowed to get married? Does that mean that if a couple chooses to not have children, their marriage should be annulled? I've never heard one argument against gay marriage that made a lick of sense to me.
