Not sure if this is the proper board, but I wanted to share some stories about my encounter with Paige and Daniel Bryan from this weekend at Supercon.
Paige
This past Friday, I met Paige via the Supercon VIP Meet and Greet. First, we got to do a photo with her. Then, after she finished all of her photos with the people who paid for the VIP event, she took questions. She basically stole the show as she quickly booted the hosts and took command of the entire thing. She is pretty funny in person, and a delight to be around.
Next came the autograph portion of the VIP event. While she signed, she talked with each person for about 1-2 minutes. When it was my turn, my girlfriend and I asked her to a dubsmash with her. We were shocked to have her agree. Sadly, we previously had placed bets on the idea that she wouldn't be game for it, so we were not prepared. We ended up missing the opportunity as the event organizers ended the Meet and Greet once all of the autographs were done. I did have a nice conversation with her about whether I should pursuit a career in wrestling at my age. Let me just say that the experience was absolutely amazing. She is extremely easy to talk to, and cares for her fans. The meeting with her was surreal and I wish I had videotaped the entire thing. She is a delight. I just wish our picture together turned out better (although it did allow me to learn for my next meeting). She loved every minute of interaction with her fans.
Before I forget, I have to share this one quick story. A six-year old blue power ranger challenged her to a lightsaber duel, which she did at the very end. She re-tweeted a video of the encounter. It was pretty funny. After twirling her lightsaber, the kid told her she was doing it wrong, and away they went.
Daniel Bryan
On Saturday, I met Daniel Bryan. I was originally going for an autograph, but after having such a fun time the night before, I opted to purchase the VIP again, and gave my pre-paid autograph ticket I bought the week before to some family I met while standing in line. They were given some wrong information, and ended up waiting in the VIP line instead of hte Photo Op line. While there, we chit chatted about the event, and the father told me his son could only do a photograph because that's what he saved for. I gave them my autograph ticket since the VIP included an autograph as well.
I was literally the last person who got to meet Daniel Bryan for the VIP session. I figured since we were doing pictures first, and since I messed up the Paige photo by blinking, I'd do something creative. I asked Daniel if he'd be willing to do a photo placing me in a headlock. He laughed, asked the event organizers if we could, and just said "Let's do it." So now I have a picture where it's ok to blink.
We then got to the autograph portion, and once again, he conversed with each fan for a minute or two. Like Paige, he really does care for his fans. He's easy to get along with too. Again, I wished I videotaped this. We chatted about whether I could wrestle at my age as well. The coolest part of the event though was that another family I talked to had asked him to lead a Yes Chant with their son, who was having a birthday the next day. He happily obliged. You could tell Daniel was genuinely happy to be around his fans.
Overall, the event was amazing. WWE sent two performers (didn't see Kane on Sunday) who know how to entertain the fans both in and outside of the ring. They were the life of the event, and easily connected with each person. Best weekend ever.
