I had a pretty big Ruthless Aggression collection, and after Mattel picked up the license I decided to move on to other focuses with collecting. Grabbed a couple of Mattels over a very long period until a trip to England in October last year and I came home with a bunch of fiures that basically tripled my basic collection! Wanted to stay with basics, until on a whim I bought the WM30 Bret Hart elite figure. And then the Dm Hogan. And today the DM Razor. Now there are a dozen or more elite legends I need to get not to mention getting the rest of the modern basics I want. But now I realize that elites are so great I should get my modern guys in elite form and sell my basics. The deeper I go the worse it gets!

Seek help,I'm just kidding. But seriously, if it gets to the point your falling behind on bills. Then it's time to take a break.

I know the feeling. I didn't have a single figure since the Hasbro days, and then back in 2010, just happened to spot a Legends Mr. Perfect on clearance at Target. It wasn't even 10 bucks if I remember correctly, but I remember debating even buying it at the time. Thought it might lead to a collection. Well, sure enough, it did. I bought a few more of those Legends that year. Kinda thought that was the end of it, but then DM Hogan got me back into it last Fall. I bought him, and now I have found myself getting every version of Hogan I can find. My American Made Hogan came in the mail just last Friday. Most of the other recent Elite Flashbacks have interested me too.....JYD, Doink, Earthquake, and now the Target HOF Series. Oh, can't forget DM Razor. Fortunately, I haven't given in to buying any newer/current wrestlers. Hopefully that doesn't change! :-)

I decided to get back in about 2 or 3 years ago after having a decent amount of Jakks stuff. Decided I was a done about a year before Mattel got the license. I started with basics, but got elite Dolph Ziggler because it was the only Dolph I saw at the time and I knew the basics and elites had the same scale. Once I played around with them a bit and saw how much easier it is to do moves with elites, I mostly stick to elites. I'll only get basics if it's someone who doesn't have an elite yet (Ted DiBiase), someone whose elite is too expensive on the secondary market (Jake Roberts), or someone who drastically changed their look and I don't want to wait a few extra months until I find the elite (Stardust).
It's easy to realize how much better elites are when you can easily perform a roll-up or sit-out powerbomb.

I got into collecting for my son who was becoming the age to want action figures. It was my choice to lead him toward wwe elite flashbacks. I'm into it waaaay more than him, but it makes me proud that he knows and loves all my wrestlers I watched. Last weekend I'm sitting around a table outside with my siblings and father and watching our 9 little boys all under 7 running around playing in the backyard. Some boys are yelling "I'm a transformer robot who turns into a plane and I fly" and "I'm Spider-Man, I shoot webs and jump high" and "I'm batman, I have a lot of cool weapons". My son yells "I'm the worlds strongest man". Everyone stops and looks at him very curious and asks "who is the worlds strongest man?" He says "mark Henry". Nobody knows who the hell mark Henry is.

That's how it goes. Pay attention to what you spend, obviously, but not too much. Don't suck the fun out of it but stay within a budget.

I know the feeling, I took a long break from collecting figures back in the Jakks days and on a whim, I resurrected what I had left of my collection (Some TTLs, Classic Superstars) and I bought a Mattel figure to compare some of my Jakks CS figs with. Soon I got back into the fold and even managed to snag an Elite Scale Ring and Jakks Raw stage for $20 on Craigslist. Collecting's an addiction, but go for a certain theme, not buying everything. For me, I go for Hulkamania to Attitude Era with a bit of Ruthless Aggression and NXT thrown in. If it gets to the point where more important funds suffer, take a breather.

You have been poisoned by Mattel like so many of us here did. Lol. Like yourself, i had a big collection of Jakks figures stretching from bone crunching action series to titan tron live series to R3 tech, then Ruthless Aggression, classic superstars as well as deluxe aggression. If i can recall the count was easily in the 200to 300 range at least. When mattel took over in 2010, i told myself "no no no. I had enough wrestling figures already. No more for me. Period." But then in 2014 july, i saw the WM30 series hbk in wm14 attire. I thought i might just get one mattel figure for fun. There and then the "poison" ran deep in me. Over the course of the next 6 mths i went into a catching up mode and acquired as many oldschool characters as i could thanks to evilbay, amazon and many other sources. Now i own like 200 mattel figures (loose & mint) and a very big hole in the wallet.

Yep. This line has a lot of variety and is just fun to collect. There just are not that many toy lines out there anymore where you get nonstop new product all the time.

I only collect Warrior, Ryback and the DMs from Flair onward, but man it's so hard, I've started grabbing the divas, and the odd flashback, it's all the design teams fault, the figures look so good hanging there on those damn pegs!

Yep. This line has a lot of variety and is just fun to collect. There just are not that many toy lines out there anymore where you get nonstop new product all the time. I picked up a DM Bret Hart. It was just one figure. I never collected wrestling figs before. Then I realized I needed an HBK to go with him and take a sharpshooter. Well my boys loved them and started getting into wrestling figures. We all started hunting for them. We all get a figure if someone is placing an order on ringside. Now, I have too damn many to know what to do with. The main reason I enjoy them is because there is always something new to grab out there. I was formerly a horror figure fan. Although as of late, there hasn't been crap from horror figures coming out. I have most of the Friday the 13th figures that have come out lots of Michael Myers (my favorite is the Neca Night He Came Home Set with Dr. Loomis, the Donald Pleasance figure is ing amazing) a few Freddy Krueger figures and some custom figures that I made to fill in gaps in my collection. Then they really stopped making those characters. I do have a couple Masterpiece transformers but waiting for official ones is long in between and 3rd party figs are too expensive and unreliable in quality. So, I have wrestling figs that work acurately

I feel the same way. When Mattel took over making wwe figures I thought I was done. I found a WrestleMania heritage randy Orton #800 of 1000 at a flea market in the summer of 2010 and from then on I was hooked.

I found a WrestleMania heritage randy Orton #800 of 1000 at a flea market in the summer of 2010 and from then on I was hooked. It was the opposite for me. I was never a huge fan or collector of any wrestling figure lines before Mattel, but they've done a great job and got me hooked. Before Mattel I had maybe 3 dozen figures. After Mattel its over 450 and rising.
