Just got back from watching it. I really enjoyed it. It is better than Terminator 3, and MUCH better than Terminator Salvation. Obviously not as good as the original and 2, but a fun Terminator action film.
I will say that re-watching the original movie before going will help your enjoyment.

I can't wait to see this film, terminator 1 and 2 are some of the best flims ever made. 3 is watchable, 4 is meh.

Hope to see it soon. Must ask though, how is Matt Smith in the movie?

How is the CGI? It looked awful in the trailers.
I doubt I'll see this in theaters but might check it out someday. T3 and Salvation were absolute garbage, IMO.

The CGI on young arnold was excellent. Some parts could have been better, but for the most part the CGI was good.

Nice! Planning to get to it this weekend. I think it looks pretty great and I like the cast.
Not sure how this is going to do at the Box Office honestly. I expect plenty of people to still go see Jurassic World and for Magic Mike to get its fair share of movie goers. Could see dollars spread around this weekend.

In 27 years, I've never walked out of a movie. I walked out of this one, today.
Horrendous CGI. Awful story. They took a strong female character, and turned her into a confused adolescent with boy troubles. Her "strength" comes from her getting over that. GTFO.
The acting was decent, and the first 1/3rd of the movie was nice for nostalgia purposes, but I was like "I could be at home working on this script I was hired to do, or napping. Either of which are better for my time than this movie." -- and I bounced.
Arnold and Emilia can keep my 11 bucks, though. Between Jurassic World, Magic Mike, and Minions -- they'll need all the help they can get.
*Edit* I'll add this. T2 is one of the few movies I credit with making me want to make movies, in the first place. I took neither T3 or Salvation as a slap in the face to the first two movies. This one basically shat on them on it's way to trying to set up a new series in the franchise, using the most convoluted plot they could come up with, to try and manage balancing nostalgia with their own ideas.
Jurassic World? Did it right.
Genisys? Did it wrong.

Jurassic World? Did it right. Genisys? Did it wrong. I understand where you are coming from on some points. Personally I didn't think the CGI was too bad. In some spots it was really good, and others it wasn't good. Definitely inconsistent. Wasn't a great movie by any means, but as a fan of the series, I found it fn and enjoyable. Sarah wasn't exactly a strong character in the first movie either, until the end really. But with her past having been changed drastically, it's not hard to see how her personality would be drastically different than we had seen previously. I thought the story was OK, but personally I would have gone a different direction with a new Terminator movie. I would have killed off John and Sarah Connor, and had there be someone else they were attempting to kill. Time Travel is a cruel mistress, and no movie has done it perfectly, but there was definitely room for improvement. The movie is definitely flawed but I don't think it is quite as bad as you say.

At this point, I would love to see a Terminator movie where it's not focused on the Connors. I'd be ALL for that. I just think this one suffered from "too many hands in the cookie jar". And I was stoked about Alan Taylor. He's a great TV Director, but -- his movies have been...yeah. Idk, to each their own, and I will get it on Redbox to finish it. I just have never felt compelled to walk out on a movie before this one yesterday. I hope some people do dig it. Arnold and Emilia deserve that much. But -- it's sandwiched in there with JW, Magic Mike and Minions (next week) -- it needed to be a higher caliber than what we got, to compete.

It is going to have trouble with a lot of competition. Although I expect many to do what I did, which is see Terminator with my friend, while our wives and watched Magic Mike. I don't think those audiences cannibalize each other much. I think the over aggressive ad campaign will hurt it some, and also probably some action movie fatigue after this year. I think a non Connor Terminator would have been a much better choice, and has been what I wanted since T2 really. But I guess they have been too afraid to pull the trigger on it. This definitely isn't the Terminator film we want, but it is better than the last two we got, to me anyway.

Several times through the first part I did stay for I was like "the hell is everyone complaining about? This is EASILY better than 3 or Salvation." -- then the love story kicked in and they made Sarah Connor a love-confused mope with boy troubles. Meh. Just -- meh. i don't want to feel 'meh' about Terminator. The first Terminator was a love story, but they did it right. it felt natural. Rushed? Sure, but natural. This wasn't shaping up that way. And I wasn't hanging out to find out if she did decide to bang him or not. It felt like pandering meant to say "Hey, ladies. There's SOMETHING for you in this one!"

I've been wanting to see this for Matt Smith (not a MASSIVE Terminator fan, but I am a massive Doctor Who fan) and finding out what character he's playing: color me bamboozled. I'm really excited to go see this soon though.

The only essential thing is a Terminator.
