Frankly I'm kind of insulted for women. As if women can't have their own good original stories and movies. No no no that would take work and thought, we need to de-male a movie and shove in female versions of the men, right down to a token black woman and a woman with Egonesque hair. WTF. I'll just keep watching Lars von Trier movies, you know, stories with strong female leads, not women trying to play male roles in some weird reactionary nonsense. Let's remake Gone with the Wind with Scotty O'Hara instead of Scarlett too. There used to be so many strong women in movies that men went to see too, Greta Garbo, Vivien Leigh, Barbara Stanwyck, Ingrid Bergman Ida Lupino etc etc. Now we have this mess and call it a success for women.

In a post on his Twitter account, Ghostbusters reboot director Paul Feig revealed the names of the main cast members for the upcoming film. You can check out his tweet below.
Per Feig, Leslie Jones is playing Patty Tolan, Melissa McCarthy is Abby Yates, Kristen Wiig is Erin Gilbert, and Kate McKinnon is Jillian Holtzmann.
The upcoming reboot also stars Chris Hemsworth, Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, Matt Walsh, and Neil Casey. Original Ghostbusters co-star and co-writer Dan Akroyd will reportedly have a cameo role. The film will hit theaters on July 22, 2016.Joy. How the hell can Chris Hemsworth degrade himself to appear in this crap?

I have absolutely no connection with Ghostbusters though I am very aware of its existence and know a thing or two about the franchise.
The fact that the originals have little to no involvement means that you are stripping the franchise of its strongest attributes......guys who understood the basics of comedy and could project that onto the screen because they made the first movie for themselves before anyone else. And here I thought everybody hated the sequel.

If this movie was called anything other than "Ghostbusters", it would probably stand a better chance. But even if it ends up being a good/funny movie, there will be people that will just never give it a chance because it's being compared to an iconic film.
I think this movie should have been a Ghostbusters PARODY instead, like call it GhostCATCHERS or something and sort of spoof it like Scary Movie does with all of the popular horror movies.

There are a couple of people in here saying not to judge this film based on a couple of pictures...yet they wholeheartedly judged the new Fantastic Four based on pictures and news articles. lol

So much negativity. From one photo.
There are plenty of other things to get upset about. Making a ghostbusters movie with all women shouldn't be one of them.
Nobody is forcing you to watch.

In this thread: " but muh childhood!! How could they!?"
Sounds an awful like the reaction to Heath before the dark knight released lol.

It's not the fact that they shoved women into a Ghostbuster movie that has most people pissed off, not at all. It's the fact that for YEARS Dan Akyroyd strung everyone along saying that a new movie was coming and it never happened. Then this comes along and INSTANTLY gets greenlit.

This is more about Hollywood being out of ideas and/or refusing to give anything new a chance imo. I haven't been following the situation very closely for many years (I finally gave up when I was a teenager) but I thought that Bull Murray was the only thing holding up a third movie?
