Alright dudes.
I bought MOC demolition for my best man from the states for $40. Asked the chap to mark it as a gift(which he did), however on the customs declaration he listed it as a value of $70 (price inclusive of shipping). As a result, I've been humped by a £20 customs charge.
As I understand it, if he'd done it right I should have been fine, but as a result it's nearly doubled the cost of the figures.
Have I got cause to raise a claim?

Not really, no. He stated $70, so that's that, I'm afraid. It's harsh, but you'll either have to pay the charge or reject the package.

No
There are 56 threads with customs rules, and an hmrc website to explain why.
They've striped you for 3 quid.
=70/1.56 = 44.87
(44.87*0.20) +8 = 17 quid
Rate was probably a lot less early this week or last. Around 1.53
