As a purist (and a die-hard Jim Henson fan), I'm glad they're back on TV. But some of the voices are not even close to the originals. I don't have high hopes for this.

This is great. Looking forward to it. Sure some of the voices are off, but what can you do? Most of them are good enough for me.

As WF's resident Muppets mark, I have to say this excites me to no end. As a purist (and a die-hard Jim Henson fan), I'm glad they're back on TV. I'm not sure if I even care about the Muppets anymore.

The voices that are off have been for 20 years though. Other than Jim Henson obviously, pretty much all of the original Muppet performers are still doing it. There are some long time performers still around, but Dave Goelz is the only original. Frank Oz is retired from doing them, and we've lost Jim, Richard Hunt, and Jerry Nelson to time. Steve Whitmire is probably the second longest running member of the crew, starting as a right hander in 78, and starting as Rizzo in 80. It's still odd how people complain about the voices though. Whitmire, for example, has been Kermit for 26 years now, and most of the other replacements have been around for at least 10-15 years. The only one that ever bothered me was Sam the Eagle, because his character seemed to change with the voice. I miss the guys we've lost as much as anyone, but I'm happy these characters have been able to continue for other generations to enjoy. Which actually brings me to my only concern. The Muppets have always been a mix of humor for adults and children, but some of the jokes here seem a little too adult. This doesn't worry me for my own sake, but I do fear that it will hurt viewership when parents see this and think it's too much for their kids. I have high hopes for this show, but I guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes.

Frank Oz does it occasionally anymore and his characters have been replaced by Eric Jacobson. Jerry Nelson and Richard Hunt have passed away. Not much has really changed with the Muppets since Jim Henson died other than Kermit The Frog hasn't been seen on Sesame Street since 2001
