Just finished watching 'Cop Car'.
For a directorial debut this was a good little movie.. I wasn't blown away by it or anything but it achieved what it set out to do and was alot better than other things I've seen this year.. Now I don't know if this means Jon Watts can helm something like Spider-Man but I'm obviously going to hold out my opinion because 1) Marvel knows how to control their production and 2) Jon Watts seems to be a capable director.
I recommend Cop Car though. Give it a watch if you have a couple hours.

where will Wolverine III/Logan fit in though? Does this happen in the future of the happy happy joy joy timeline we seen in DOFP after everything gets fixed and Stewart was in the booming X-Mansion??
Seems a pity to f*ck around with that.

As Deadpool would put it "These timelines are so confusing."

Seems a pity to f*ck around with that. I'm not sure.. I'm willing to bet it's happy happy joy joy timeline. I say that only because of this! The Reavers and Mister Sinister's involvement in X-Men: Apocalypse. I was thinking earlier, since some of the antagonist seem to be The Reavers it would be cool if the story hints at Apocalypse still having influence on their current world and that's one of the main reasons everyone is dead, and everything seems to be sh*t.. Because Apocalypse wasn't actually destroyed in X-Men: Apocalypse and over time he made another appearance and wrecked everything again.. At the end of X-Men: Apocalypse we see Essex Corp gathering stuff at Striker's base. So that makes me think the fixed timeline has direct ties. The only thing I'm not understanding is how Charles Xavier is still alive AND how he's alive when Logan got old as sh*t.. Considering Logan ages slower than everyone Professor X should have been dead YEARS before this took place.. I'm thinking they might tie in Apocalypse to explain why Professor X started to age slow, because Apocalypse was transitioning himself to Charles BUT they never finished.. Something might have rubbed off.

Is it bad that I trust Ryan Reynolds' judgement on this more than whoever the director was? According to reports Reynolds wanted to focus more on the humor and Tim Miller wanted to make it a more visual/stylized movie. So.

I don't think Miller wanted to kill the humor, I think he just wanted a balance that would strike more focus on the character and story while also having the humor. I worry the sequel will be very shallow. But I ing hate Deadpool anyway so I don't care either way

My opinion on the first Deadpool movie was that it was great, once or maybe twice. The re-watchability of it isn't very high as you already know all of the jokes and the plot minus the jokes and Deadpool himself is very generic.
With that said, if Deadpool 2 does the same thing I'll be happy. If the jokes are even 75 percent as funny as the original, then I'll be fine with it. And that's acknowledging that it will get stale after 2.

I wasn't crazy about the jokes the first time around.. Only 2 jokes stick out and everything else fell flat for me.. The movie is good, the directing is good, and I enjoy watching it.. but I'm definitely not watching it because I need a good chuckle.

Mostly everything in Deadpool is a nod or a wink to something else, be it pop culture or the source material. They were influenced heavily by Joe Kelly in that regard. I think it's hysterical. It's a great action movie that uses comedy as a sidekick in all the right ways. I've watched it quite a few times on HBO recently and I've enjoyed it as much, if not more, as when I saw it in theaters. Ryan Reynolds spent 10 years trying to bring Deadpool to life. You'll have to excuse me while I pull out my no s given card if he has to find a new director for the sequel. Tim Miller is a special effects guy whose FIRST movie was Deadpool. him. I'll laugh so hard if they can really get Tarantino to do Deadpool. Nobody will even remember Tim Miller's name.

Watching the Logan trailer again makes even more sad it'll also be Sir Patrick Stewart's last go round as Xavier...man he's great.

Not a Marvel character. But I do love him in Walking Dead. Just a pretty heated rant about Tim Miller and Deadpool.. Ryan Reynolds isn't a director nor is he a writer and while I really appreciate his love for the character of Deadpool, every actor with a passion project needs to get put in check sometimes or it can get out of control.. I don't wanna watch Ryan Reynolds quip for 2 hours as Deadpool. There needs to be balance in film. And there is no chance in the world that Tarantino even slightly considers doing Deadpool 2..

I took my son to see Dr Strange last night and he freaking hated it! He is only 8 and it really did not grab his attention. I thought it was ok, but the start was kind of slow. Actually that is not the right word for it. I would say that the start is just very boring. Once he starts using magic I thought it got kind of cool and the effects were amazing, but by then my son was lost lol. For me this is the weakest entry into the MCU. I am not saying I hated it or it was bad. Just when the other movies are so good this one stands out as being rather forgettable and not as special imo.

I don't think Miller leaving is the disaster everyone thinks it is......BUT when actors take over projects we get the vapid ego trip that was XMO: Wolverine. BUT I reckon Fox will get someone good in here.....they will want to capitalise on Deadpool even more now after the tepid response to XM:A. Also XM:A was weak sauce on the 2nd viewing........Starts off great. But when Singer gets into "throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks mode"? Movie falls asunder. Has very strong points but heaps feels like forced fan service that no fans asked for.
