Just watched Venom.
It was a miserable attempt from Sony. While there was some bits I liked. It was overall a down for me. The plot was stupid. The villain was bland and one dimensional. As expected, the only redeeming part of this movie was Tom Hardy’s performance.

Seeing the tweet from Chris Evans it really makes me wonder what Marvels end game (see what i did there?) is? Obviously nothing is going to last forever but I really cant see the MCU thriving as well as it has if they start losing/killing off iconic characters like Captain America or Iron Man.

Venom has smashed expectations at the box office. Everyone seems to hate it but its making coin. I wonder will word of mouth kill it off the 2nd weekend? That can be very damaging as you know.

Phase 4 and beyond was always going to change from the first 3 phases. Characters either get ed/retired, or only cameo here and there while new characters come out, some get their trilogy and team up films.

I thought the trailer was okay. I figured my wife would be super excited for it but she wasn’t too thrilled by the trailer. She’s more excited for Wonder Woman 1984, and honestly, I am too. We are both big MCU fans but we both also understand it’s possible to not like every single movie just because it’s MCU. It’s perfectly okay for people to love or hate the same thing. We aren’t all built to like the exact same things and I’m honestly kinda tired of the internet making people feel bad because they aren’t into certain things. Just because someone isn’t expecting much from this movie doesn’t mean they’re an idiot or whatever. Kinda my rant for the day. I'm with you. Marvel >dc anyday. But, honestly wonder woman was the best dc movie yet, a clear hit. Captain marvel I couldn't care less about. Not impressed by the character, the actress playing the character or the fact that it's pretty clear she is the key to avengers 4. This just feels like a forced retailliation to WW and I'm far from all in on it.This is hilarious considering Marvel announced Phase 3 and Captain Marvel back in 2014, before WW was even being considered for a movie or a part on Batman V. Superman.

I enjoyed the hell out of Venom. It’s 100% carried by Hardy and his dynamic with Venom but it was a fun ride. I’d call it a super awesome B action flick. I thought the character portrayals felt extremely meta. Like they knew they were comic book characters inside of a comic book movie. It was a very different approach to take but I largely dug it.
It was a somewhat faithful adaptation of Lethal Protecor. I thought Riot jumping from host to host was good stuff and then he had some cool action moments at the end. The after credits scene was off the charts. I hope we get a sequel for that setup alone.
Full disclosure, I think Homecoming is a trash movie. So if Feige isn’t willing to use Venom then I’m more than happy to keep going to see these from Sony. It sucks to not have Spider-man but Venom has been awesome on his own for years now. I’m glad someone brought that to life.

I really hate to be negative, but I hated Venom My expectations could not have been any lower so I did have a little hope that the movie would be fun and surprise me. Venom looked cool and that is about the only good thing I can say about it. Riot was such a poor choice for a villain in this first movie and I am clearly in the minority here, but Tom Hardy was a terrible Eddie Brock. I did not see his character as Eddie Brock at all. I know a lot of people have said that Hardy as Eddie/Venom is the only thing that made this movie, but I really do not see how his performance was that great at all. Venom is one of my favorite characters in all of comic books and has been for over two decades at this point so to see his big screen movie be this really sucks. Sony could have had a goldmine with a whole series of Spidey and Venom movies that could have easily lasted three or four movies. I have said it before, but I am going to say it again. I am not a huge fan of Spider-Man 3, but the way that Eddie becomes Venom in that movie was fantastic. I hate to say it, but Venom was actually worse than I thought it was going to be. I will be interested to see how it plays out as there are some people who are freaking out and saying it is amazing, but then there is also a lot of folks who thought it was just a horrible movie. I would be interested to know if the people who like it had this as their first taste of Venom as maybe that would explain why they liked it. That is the only way I can see why Tom Hardy is getting so much praise for his portrayal as I really did not see any Eddie Brock in him at all. I do not mean to poop on anyone's parade and if you loved the movie more power to you and it is great people can like different things. For me, though this is legit one of the worst superhero movies I have ever seen.

They formally announced a marvel movie 5 years before it came out but you think they came up with an idea, cast it, wrote it, filmed it, edited it and put it out in under 2 years at dc? Lol. Fanboys are just the cutest little things.
