12 years in the making and I'm finally getting my revenge on my wife. I'm a Spider-Man fan, I loved the first Raimi film and greatly anticipated the sequel for two years. Unfortunately I became ill the day I was set to go see Spider-Man 2. I couldn't make it and my wife thought it would be jolly-jack splendid if she just went ahead and seen it without me. Yeah, that didn't sit well with me. I've been biding my time waiting for the opportunity to strike and finally get retribution on that wicked woman. Today is that day. She's a life long Captain America fan, she's got stacks of comics and she loved the Winter Soldier film. She's been eagerly awaiting the sequel for two years and we were set to see it together but I decided to give her the middle finger instead and pre-purchase my ticket for the opening show tonight! I can finally sleep comfortably next to my wife after wanting to kill her for 12 years. Revenge is sweet! Petty.

"I remember the first time I really understood what it was to be an American...What it was to be a patriot.
I was just a kid...A million years ago, it seems sometimes. Maybe twelve. I was reading Mark Twain. And he wrote something that struck me right down to my core...something so powerful, so true, that it changed my life. I memorized it so I could repeat it to myself, over and over across the years. He wrote --'In a republic, who is the country?
Is it the government which is for the moment in the saddle? Why, the government is merely a temporary servant: it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn't. It's function is to obey orders, not originate them.
Who, then is the country? Is it the newspaper? Is it the pulpit? Why, these are mere parts of the country, not the whole of it, they have not command, they have only their little share in the command. In a monarchy, the king and his family are the country: In a republic it is the common voice of the people each of you, for himself, by himself and on his own responsibility, must speak.
It is a solemn and weighty responsibility, and not lightly to be flung aside at the bullying of pulpit, press, government, or the empty catchphrases of politicians.
Each must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, and which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man.
To decide it against your convictions is to be an unqualified and inexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may.
If you alone of all the nation shall decide one way, and that way be the right way according to your convictions of the right, you have your duty by yourself and by your country. Hold up your head. You have nothing to be ashamed of'."
Cap continues, "Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right.
This nation was founded on one principle above all else: The requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world--No, you move."
It's that time, ladies and gents. My body is ready. Let's do this! #TeamCap

Civil War was fantastic, though lets be real did anyone expect it not to be? Marvel keeps turning out great films.

Civil War was superb. A real fine movie.
I'm not trying to pick sides, as the more comic book franchises out there means more possibilities, but this doesn't seem like a competition between Marvel and DC. Marvel feels like WWE. DC feels like TNA. There is no war. One sees the other as competition while the other is too high to notice anyone else.

Loved every second of it. Going in about 5 hrs to see it in IMAX.
Does anyone think...*Potential spoilers*
Since Infinity War's titles are getting changed, Avengers 3 could end up being Secret Avengers? Cap, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, Falcon and possibly Black Panther/Winter Soldier?
*edit* Particularly if Masters of Evil was introduced in it, leading into Thanos arriving at the end? Zemo and Klaw would be a good starting point for the MoE...
I would be all for that.

Black Panther and Spiderman really stole the movie. It's a shame we have to wait for their standalone movies.
Civil War was better than I expected. I wish Crossbones had a much bigger role/air time because the fight scene with him and Cap was incredible.

I wish Crossbones had a much bigger role/air time because the fight scene with him and Cap was incredible. Yeah. Crossbones was one of Caps' best villains. They really could have used him a lot better rather than just a quick cameo. I also thought Zemo should have been better. He just played the role of a puppeteer, not getting much screen time or ever seeming like a real threat. His motives were kind of lame too. The movie was more or less a sequel to the Avengers films. It continued the Avengers story arc with a little Winter Soldier action thrown into the mix. I definitely don't think it's worth the buzz it's getting. If you just want to see a few new faces, some old ones, copious one-liners, comic relief, superheros fighting and explosions...there's enough there to whet your appetite. If you're looking for a really great story...eh, I don't think it's really there.

I enjoyed Civil War overall, but thought the first half was really slow. Not sure it really deserves all the praise it is getting.

Just got out of the showing. ing amazing. Favorite Marvel movie yet. Thought Bucky & Spidey were the standouts - but everyone was amazing, honestly. Whole theater gave it a standing ovation at the end.

Just saw it a second time and there is literally nothing I can find to complain about. As far as comic book movies, near perfect, imo.

Man, that was in awesome. As a guy who basically grew up reading it's great to see my favorites on the big screen. Been getting a kick outta every Marvel movie produced. Lots of good action, some straight outta the comic books. Can't wait to see it again.

Just walked in the door from seeing it. I loved it! Like others have said, Spidey & Black Panther (and Ant Man) stole the show. Action was great. Comedy was good, but not over done. Story telling was at it's finest. Marvel just continues to set the bar so high that no one can compete.

As much as I loved Civil War... now I'm bummed that we have to wait a whole year for Spidey.

BP and Winter Soldier were miles away my favorite characters. Entertaining as hell though on the whole. Right there with Cap WS for me, so top of the pile. Was underwhelmed by Spider-boy. He came off as a try hard instead of a youthful cocky and fun character. Conversely, Ant-man was the perfect amount fun and comedy for me.
Stark was a wild man the whole film, like driven by almost blind vengeance from his own actions. That's the kind of thing you expect from drunk Tony. That was the only element of the story that they played fast and loose with imo. It all kind of came together at the end but the motivation was shaky for me at times. Nitpicking, I know.
Did anyone see the Winter Soldier cup topper at their theater? I got Black Panther but wanted Winter Soldier too. My theater only had Cap/IM/BP. If anyone is going for a round two and willing to pick one up for me, please let me know.

Just saw Civil War. It was AMAZING. 10/10. Loved it all. It was a perfect comic book movie. Spidey, Bucky and Black Panther stole the show. Can't wait for Spider Man Homecoming and the Black Panther solo film.
