One review from a pretty resected source on comic book movies(that I generally agree with) said it was needlessly grim....uninspired and really really drab.....with Sue being relegated to staring at screens for most of the movie and Jordans Johnny seemingly a better fit for a Fast & The Furious movie. They also say the scene where the scientist "names them" is awful and the dialogue in the 2nd part of the movie is atrocious. Teller & the actor that plays Storms father seem to be getting the lions share of the praise with hardly a word about Doom....... Now the reason I listed the above points were they seem to be common complaints amongst reviewers. I have a good shot at seeing this for free tomorrow night with my pal who works at our local Cineplex.....If I can I will post without bias on what I saw. Without bias... you know you hate it already haha! LOL!! Whilst I do despise SEVERAL of the creative decisions made here? I will try and focus on things I liked from the movie. I suspect The Thing could be one of them for some reason.....

The movie has a 100 minute run time.. What the hell can they accomplish in 100 minutes?!
That's not how you jump start a franchise. By cutting it short.

Boring question from a non-comic buff: *SPOILERS FOR ANT-MAN BELOW*
What are the accords that Cap and Wilson talk about at the end of the film that means they can't contact Stark?

No one really knows, this scene is taken straight from Civil War, so no one knows really what the exact reasons are, I think it was just to show that Ant-Man will be in it

I love the look of Deadpool, they seem to have nailed it and the moving eyes are beautiful.
I'm actually kind of looking forward to F4, I can see it for £2.50 and watch the franchise hopefully bomb on the big screen.

So this is likely to sit with the likes of Catwoman and Batman and Robin as one of the worst movies ever made I'm guessing. Is Batman and Robin not generally liked? I guess I'm in the minority that liked it then lol

I read somewhere that they re-shot and re-cut the movie so that Victor Domashev is now actually Victor von Doom. One good thing for you all then.

The fact that he wasn't Victor Von Doom from the start is crazy. That's like trying to sell me that Harley Bent is Two-Face. I get they want to take some liberties and get creative with the source material, but just completely changing names?

I know I'm in the minority but I actually wanna see F4. I look at most CBMs as "one-shots" anyway. That way I'm not having a fit about something straying far from the source material.
At the end of the day, it's just a movie. Yeah, most of them suck. But they are what they are, a form of escapism.
Also, slightly off topic, but Kevin Smith pointed out that Nolan ripped off quite a few things from the Burton/Schumacher films. So the Schumacher stuff does have certain amounts of weight to them if the guy who made Memento is ripping it off.

I like tons of terrible movies, just not that one.

This year was its 20th anniversary and I hoped it would happen.....but to no avail. And yeah I'm sure Nolan went there plenty. I tend not to be too hard on Schumacher. WB demanded something lighter after the backlash against Batman Returns....Schumacher delivered this with BF and delivered a HUGELY successful movie that was well received at the time. Also? I kinda believe the guy when he says he had non stop studio interference in B&R.....plus he had Arnie's creative control to contend with....which according to many transformed his Mr Freeze into a comedy character. I firmly believe he wanted to right the ship with Batman Triumphant and had already talked Jack into being Joker again for the hallucination Scarecrow gas scenes.

Strange. Yep, not sure why; maybe its for similar reasons as why they showed a clip from the first Avengers at the end of the first Cap film. I like it, it gives it a little more hype, and shows how dark the films gonna be (both in tone and in literal lighting) As for the whole Nolan and Batmans before him; yeah there were shots in Rises that were EXACTLY the same as Returns between Bruce and Selina, in fact that entire relationship was pretty much the exact same. The whole making Batman hated by everyone was again from Batman Returns, I could go on but I wont, this is the Marvel thread after all I will say though, damn I really do like how Doom seems to carry himself in F4; I saw the corridor scene and DAMN that looks scary as crap, but so good too.

It's strange to me how they keep giving Doom powers and involving him in the initial experiment.
Is this inspired by Ultimate Doom by any chance?
