I live in Seattle where you would expect there to be actual local toy stores because this place seems to like to push out major box stores (which is really annoying). All the toy stores I find online either specialize in overpriced Japanese stuff I don't care about or weird lame toys that as a kid I would be very disappointed with. "It's educational! It's unique!" Stop pushing your weird hippie crap on your kids. Toys are serious business. Power Rangers or get the f*** out.
Would be nice to find a place that sells older figures that aren't going to price gouge me like Amazon.

I'd be interested to know if this would have been the case with Jakks...if they had kept the contract, would they have put there prices up so much that the stores would have to stop selling them? Or are these 'costs' exclusive to Mattel?
I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time, but even if it really is costs, they need to make better choices sometimes. Did we really need the door and table over an actual APA vest?
Another thing is, why spend money on silly accessories to try and 'justify' a higher elite price point? They aren't always needed. Example...Lugar's dumbells...they make the figure silly, no need for them. I'd rather they had saved the money on Lugar's bells and kept the same price point then put that money into someone who need extra attire or accessories. Surely everyone would understand and agree if they did that? I actually didn't buy the figure partly because of the bells and as a MOC collector it put me off...plus I'm holding out for a Narcissist...but I'd have bought the USA one without bells even at £21.

It was even cheaper than that at the time bro £17.99... Does ruin the figure though..

No "local" companies have ever sold wrestling figures here...

The reason Mattel is expensive compared to when Jakks had the WWE license is because Mattel bidded and won a hell lot to get the WWE contract. I heard it was 30% more than Jakks, maybe more.
That's why the price difference is so great.
Talking about oil and plastic cost is nonsense because both Mattel and Jakks make plastic toys. And so many toy manufacturers. It's all about profit.

Who are these "local dealer" people? They sound dodgy. Sounds like a place you pick up a action figure and a dime bag lol

It's like Walmart putting all the mom and pop shops out of business

Mattel also has probably thousands more employees to pay.
And you can't compare the products. Jakks figures look like dollar store garbage compared to Mattel's. More unique parts means creating more metal dyes to cast the pieces means more money.

Sounds like he buys directly off a scalper. And the scalper is realizing he isn't making money. Good news if anything. Less scalpers is better No mate I don't buy off scalpers, never have, never will In the UK we have small toy shops (surely it's the same over by you guys) which sell toys like Star Wars collectables, game of thrones, the walking dead, comic stuff etc... but no wrestling figures anymore and I just remember years ago these guys selling a load of Jakks stuff back in the day at great prices and have never touched Mattel Experiencing the same problem atm. (In the uk) My local toy shop has so many action figures but only has about 5 basic wwe mattel ones. Even in saying that they sell them for like 14 pounds each and theyre probably 4 series behind which is obviosuly ridiculous Its quite unfair on local shops because they obviously have to price the figures higher as mattel charge them higher and consumers know they can get the same product from smyths for 9.99 so less sales for local shops and this is why so many local toy shops are closing down in the uk Its the same concept for all types of figures tbh whether it be game of thrones, marvel, dc - the big retailers are crushing the locals
