After 17-18 years of owning Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64 and never playing past 50/51 stars, I finally got 120 stars in the game tonight.
The last star for me was finding 100 coins in Level #15: Rainbow Ride. I had the most trouble with nailing the repeated wall jumps to get the blue coins on that level. I had failed coin runs of 99, 96, 94, and 92, but I was convinced my luck would turn at some point. It did, when a random Goomba fell safely to a platform below me as I was stuck on 99 coins for the second time.
Man, it was such a wave of relief to get that last star, and corny as it may sound, I will never forget the experience of reuniting with Yoshi and flying around the castle with my newly-acquired Wing Cap. I love this game now, even as frustrating as it could be at times, because it felt like such an adventure throughout.
Oh, and I have a sudden urge to want to buy the original soundtrack. Dire, Dire Docks is just...the most relaxing theme.
What do you guys think of Super Mario 64? Any memorable experiences?
