Usually I soak them in hot (not boiling, boiling will ruin paint) water for about 30 seconds, move each joint a bit, then soak in cool water fot a minute and dry them afterwards. Sometimes it helps loose joints tighten up a bit. I also haven't had problems for a while, the exception being DDP's loose shoulders and torso.

Quality control is going down. Cost going up.

When Mattel first started, I had many elites that wouldn't stand because of loose ankle joints. I couldn't get Cena, Goldust, or Ted Dibiase Jr to stand on their own (even with the stands!) for more than a few seconds. I had to use the superglue trick to tighten many ankle joints. Its been a lot better the past year or two as I can't think of any elite I've picked up that had loose joints.
I have had to deal with tight joints, particularly ankles, but I don't mind since you can fix that with a quick bath in hot water and gently working the joint until it moves freely.

I have been collecting elite since series 1 as well and I have had tons of issues with them. I agree, the quality control is pretty awful.

The problems are not going to be exclusive to elites. I collect both, its luck of the draw most days. Plenty of my basics stand, but sometimes those pins are weak at the ankles and they topple. And most of my Elites are fine but sometimes I encounter a bad one. Most recent for me was DDP, who has some weak ankles. Like an elite before series 17 when they began tightening them.

I've never had that problem. However, I'm done paying an extra £5/£10 for an elite which are supposed to have accessories but only have knee pads or tattoos as accessories name me a figure that MATTEL ever advertised as having "knee pads" as an accessory.

I have a few figures with flimsy legs, but I feel it is pretty rare. I used to collect exclusively basics, but after I got enough of the Elites, there is no comparison. Elites are Elite.

They just seem ... I dunno the correct word... maybe, Fragile ?
I know that I wouldn't buy an Elite for a kid, because they seem like they would be broken within the first 5 minutes.
They look GREAT displayed, but I'd fear paying $25 or more for a child to play with.

Not saying they have but it's something I see them doing. Elite A.J - Comes with Necklace... Well so did most basics.
It's just with Jakks figures like ECW Ariel had such high detail! Came with a removable skirt a removable corset it also came with a steel chair or a microphone!

I see what the op is saying. Basics tdo stand better and display better. With elites, you gotta get the ab crunch, thighs, knees, and boots to sit all just right, or you got dominoes mutha f*cka.

My E36 Wyatt has some loose legs, but nothing is consider a problem.
The ab crunch of my E32 Cesaro is loose but nothing compared to the ab crunch of my old Jakks DA Kofi Kingston.

All I buy is Elites and I don't have that problem. My only figure that does have the problem of standing on its own in my sgt slaughter. That's because it came with extra plastic on the bottom of the foot. Factory defective.

So to rectify the issue, either hot glue them down or get the Mattel display stands from RSC for $4.99. I hope that helps.

Just opened my E36 Goldust and his right leg is floppy. So much so that I thought he was breaking when I went to turn the leg and it gave so quick. I flipped him and checked the joint, it is just loose somehow, because it looks totally normal.
Not to sound too rain-man esque, but there is definitely a change in materials that seems to have just started in Elite 35 and basic 50. The weight is off slightly and the material has a slight tactile difference. I would say this is noticeable to a hardcore collector as a vehicle suddenly having a minor performance issue after someone had driven it for years without incident. What I'm saying is that I'm not crazy, there is a difference despite being subtle to a casual fan.
