I really enjoy using the self check out at two walmarts near me.But I'm going to a Walmart I have never been to and wanted to know is there any way you can find out if a Walmart has a self check out?

Walk in, if they don't make those cashiers earn their pay.

Whats so bad about using a regular checkout that you had to make a thread about it?

Short of calling in or walking in, no. Walmart's Website nor Mobile App shows any icon related to the Self Checkout Kiosks.
I prefer the Self Checkout as well, as I don't feel as rushed and can bag my own stuff so I have the confidence that it won't fall out.
It's also nice not to have to deal with a clerk's rude demenor when all I'm trying to do is buy a movie and some snacks or something.

Seems like you're putting in more time, work and effort in trying to find a self-checkout instead of just...you know...going to a regular checkout.
Human interaction is a good thing, people.

A lot of people try to do shady stuff at self-checkouts, like not scan stuff, scan fake barcodes, change prices, etc. I can't think of any other reason why it would matter to you.I mean, if you were terribly afraid of human interaction, the last place you would go to is a Wal-Mart.

Am I the only one that likes checking out at the Liquor Counter? Both of my local Walmarts have a seperate section for the "harder liquor" and there's pretty much never a line there. It helps that the people working there never seem to be in a terrible mood, or at least don't share their terrible mood with me.

My chief has us do mandatory walkthroughs at Walmart in the city where I work for this reason alone. Our theft rates like tripled when they built Walmart. It's out of control how much stuff walks out of those stores.

I'm always amazed at the number of people that are just simply waved away and told to leave when those detectors go off at the entrance/exit of the store. In multiple cities, no less. Why even bother having that kind of system if you don't actively respond to it? Yet I'm going to get stopped and have my entire bag searched on the way out after only buy cookies and a Coke?

I don't wanna go into much detail but it's my understanding that Walmart loss prevention can only stop under a very specific set of circumstances.

I used to be a manager of a Blockbuster in a fair "rough" neighborhood and we dealt with a lot of Loss Prevention, which included certain stipulations that a few of the crooks actually found out about and would try to "expose" or use against us. So the next time I saw them walk into the store, I immediately called the cops because I knew they were going to steal again. Explained that he had been in previously and that I believed he was stealing at the time (which according to my security cameras, he was). Ended up not only trying to shove over $200 worth of merch down his pants but he also apparently had black tar heroin on him at the time.

I guessing he's embarassed to buy toys where people can see, so he uses self-checkout so people won't watch.

This sounds shady. If you're worried about buying a toy, ask for a gift reciept.

My first job was a cashier at a CVS and I sold a lot of girls I went to high school with tampons. They always looked mortified, lol. Guys from my high school never got embarrassed when they came in for condoms though. When we were at school one kid admitted to me he steals them from my store all the time which I didn't really believe because it was a tiny store and I never saw him there. The fist time I bought condoms I had some old guy ringing me up just staring a hole through me. That was the only uncomfortable part about it, he seemed so lifeless.

When I buy them now, I wave the box around like I've got a winning lotto ticket.
