Very strange about the nWo rights,I would have thought that came with the WCW purchase... Could have swore I read Masahiro Chono had to get WWE's permission to sell the t-shirts in Japan?

i have a message for the op, you already have about 4 of custom hollywoods, why do you need the mattel one so bad if you have one that looks just like this or even better? its not like you play with it and inspect it everyday right? you just put them on a shelf.. 2 to 3 feet distance from it and you can never tell its a custom..
for the others: it might take a lot and i mean a lot of time for new hogan merch to be released and furthermore, i think the DM will never be released. if you are so stressed on getting it just make a custom or pay someone to make you one. if you want it so bad you put the effort\money into it.. some of my customs are so good i even dont care at the time mattel comes out with their version.. its just a toy, why do you care so much if its original or not? youre supposed to have more sentimental value for something you or someone created just for you rather than a toy that was mass produced for the entire world.. besides, the mattel version looks like crap imo, the belt is not what is supposed to look like and the headsculpt is stupid
you want to make a quick custom? ralphs sells a hollywood hogan pants, boa and belt for mattel figures

I wonder if maybe Nash & Hogan own the rights to the nWo but maybe WWE owns the merchandising rights? Im really not sure.

Listening to Ric Flair's podcast, they briefly discussed Hogan...we're VERY lucky we're even getting nWo merch/figures at all. Apparently Kevin Nash & Hogan own the nWo rights. When Hogan was banned if you remember all the nWo merch was taken down as well. Apparently that highly pissed Nash off and he flew straight to Conn to meet with the WWE to get the nWo merch back on the market because it takes money out of his pocket. Just imagine if they banned all nWo stuff and we had to cancel not only Hogan but possibly even RSC Scott Hall and maybe The Outsiders 2 pack. Hogan and Nash own the rights to nWo? Thank for that! That was one of their better deals made in their WCW days. Does Hall not have part ownership of the rights? That seems a little unfair, but it makes a lot of sense, I suppose. I'd imagine Hall's portion was sold a long time ago. Like, in 1998. No way Nash would let Hall do something stupid with those rights.

Mattel isn't making the figure right now, maybe some day but not now, why can't people accept that?

After getting 100% conformation I scooped up the first extra HOF Hogan I saw earlier today. Already got him as a work in progress Hollywood Hogan custom. (The DM was just gonna be a repaint/diff boots anyway) , Wish me luck!

Hopefully Hogan resigns with WWE soon and we don't have to guess if it will come out or not.

I wonder if maybe Nash & Hogan own the rights to the nWo but maybe WWE owns the merchandising rights? Im really not sure. (from The Fight Network): **There was a very interesting tidbit from Ric Flair’s podcast today, with Eric Bischoff on the as the guest. Flair noted that a while ago, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall were given a percentage of ownership in the N.W.O. merchandise. At some point, Kevin Nash purchased Scott Hall’s points and has 34% ownership, while Hogan has 16%. This created a major problem with Kevin Nash and the WWE when Hogan was fired and they pulled down all the merchandise. According to Flair, Nash went to Stamford to work out a compromise and now they are selling certain N.W.O. merchandise....so it looks as though WWE owns 50%, Nash 34%, and Hogan 16%.

No. Things being released now are things that were already done when racismania started runnin' wild. Things that weren't already produced were stopped. We may see it one day, but not until the bigotry thing has blown over. I always laugh when I see NWO Hogan's being labelled "Hulk Hogan". Clearly the people working on these know nothing about wrestling's history... Or they know something about marketability.

Would it be possible for some of the parts that were intended for Hogan (like the lightning bolt tights) to be included in a build a figure set? It sounds like NWO merchandise is still fair game. Would be nice if all one had to do was buy a BAF set and swap the head with a WM9 Hogan.

Hopefully when they do nWo Hogan again down the road they go with the nwo belt and a angrier scan. I think a delay in this figure may be a good thing. It needed some tweaking anyway.

All True. Furthermore I'll add that Mcfarlen has made toys of people who actually did murder human beings. If you're talking about the Billy the Kid and Jack the Ripper figures, they did their killing before the 20th century so enough time had passed . I'm pretty sure those weren't sold at TRU. KB might have carried them? Yeah, I bought that Billy the Kid and Jack the Ripper, as well as the Elizabeth Bathory figures. The Elizabeth one was cool because she was sitting in a bathtub full of blood.

I wonder if we could still get Hulk in the blue workout pants? Did Bill ever answer that? I don't think directly, no. Yesterday I would've said it was implied, but now there's the possibility of the Create-a-Wrestler a basic repaint coming out, so who the heck knows. I'm hoping it makes it out! And I'd love love love it if it came with cowboy boots and a weight belt.

In my opinion, as great as a lot of customs are, it's just not the same as getting a full fledged official release. You don't have to worry about paint or decals chipping or flaking off, cracking torso, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I've seen some absolutely insane customs, some that even look better than mattels efforts...but there's something about being able to go into a store and simply buy a release instead of having to make one or buy an expensive commission piece.

It's a basic with the Hulk Rules shirt repainted. It was part of a screen grab that included some CAWs.
