I didn't mind Riley at all either, and totally agree it was weird to see him wifed up and working in a tag team. I like that episode though from Buffy's perspective. Most of the characters fans seemed to largely hate I didn't really understand. I never had an issue with Dawn either, really.

And even they had their moments of awesomeness. Connor was annoying and kind of weird casting (why would you hire such a weird looking kid to be the kid of Julie Benz and David Boreanaz) but overall he was good. There were a few characters I didn't initially like that won me over in a big way shortly after (Lorne, Fred, Tara Spike and Wesley). I really liked Dawn, and wasn't bothered by Kennedy. In fact Kennedy didn't even do much in the show, so how she drew all this hate is beyond me. I guess the only other character I didn't really like was Knox but that was for completely different reasons!

Kennedy was the bomb.

Kennedy was the bomb. That makes sense to a degree. I liked her for what she brought to the show. She was the only potential who really got any kind of character development. But she was certainly no Tara. Tara > Willow.

My third favorite show of all time. Spike is probably my favorite character, but season 7 hurt him a lot for me, went too far to the good side, he was best when he was a little more dark.
Season 7 the worst for me, followed by 6. 6's only saving grace was the Willow arc and a bit of Buffy readjusting. Weakest big bad of the series by far. 5 had such a perfect finale that would have been an incredible series finale that I wish it had ended there. I find a lot of these type of network shows tend to peak around the fifth season and face a huge drop in quality afterwards, as there becomes a struggle of what to do with the characters to keep it relevant or necessary while also reaching the levels of previous villains.
Hush is easily the best episode in the series imo. No contest.
Xander is another favorite character of mine, as he's just the normal dude of the group. He was about the only thing in the final season I could stand. Seeing him find his place and always be there for everyone else was a great journey.

Hard to argue against "Hush" as the best episode, but there are a few that I think are contenders. I personally LOVE "Once More with Feeling". And my favorite season, season 2, is full of great episodes. "Surprise", "Innocence", "I Only Have Eyes For You", and "Becoming: Part 1 and 2" are amazing. I actually stumbled upon "Becoming Part 2" last night and watched most of it. Buffy was probably my favorite show ever until "Breaking Bad" came along. They might be tied, with "The Office" coming in third.

It's great, and its more rewatchable than most because of the humor, but overall it lacks that punch for me. Would be in my top 10 for sure but not top 5. Hush and The Body are my two favorites.

I forgot about "The Body"! I really liked OMWF the way they got a lot of secrets out in the open due to the spell. It really helped move along several plotlines. Not my favorite, but one of them. Damn, now I want to rewatch the series.
